Title: Where were we with Joe vs Joseph - from a new DVD
Post by: LLJ on December 13, 2009, 11:57:22 PM
Hi Everyone

I'm sorry for creating a new topic, couldn't find the other one and couldn't remember where we were with the name issue?

Last night I watched a dvd titled "MJ History 1958-2009". When I saw the title I didn't want to watch it, but anything MJ is important to me. It was told from media perspective. And there was a guy who really pissed me off. But that's not the point..

They spoke about the 2003 case and when the police filed charges. They showed the documentation the police issued. It clearly showed "MICHAEL JOE JACKSON". Maybe it was already common knowledge but it was just a kind of light bulb moment, because at that stage, 2003, the police was definately not involved in a hoax and here is the name black on white. Of course 6 years passed again after this?

The DC said Joseph right?

I've seen a video that mention this Joe and Joseph name thing, and my cousin told me..."maybe he change his name" and I was like -.- why ? what for? he is known as Michael J. Jackson.. it has no sense! at all!!... and the question still reminds.. why two names in different documents?
I'm new here and i looove that you post things that you've already discuss, because it will take me an eternity to catch up with you, you are years away from what I know :P so thanks :P

We all know that when it comes the authorities and legal documents we have to declare our complete and correct name. I have a question and this could be commented here, why during the trial in 1993 Michael declared his name was Michael Joseph Jackson(i tried to find that video but i cannot find it anymore, maybe someone knows what i'm speaking about )  and at the trial in 2004 he said his name was Michael Joe Jackson ? I know he wasn't any ordinary people, he was the greatest megastar of the world, but, in court, he was treated as one of all of us, therefore he had to undergo all the internal legal proceedings.
Could we discuss a little on this subject?

Yes you are right, they treated him like any other. When I saw how confused he looked when they did the search wit the metal detector. Oh shame, so cute. But I'm off the point..

My guess is that he must have changed his name after 1993 for some reason? I tried Googling name changes but couldn't find anything.

What I did find. On answers.com they discuss his history both under Joseph and Joe. In two different paragraphs as if they are two diff people!

I really don't know, but  the change of the name has no sense at all for me.. I mean.. if you google Michael Joe Jackson or Michael Joseph Jackson you will get a lot of links but according to same person.. he didn't change his name to Rodolfo Jose Vallesteros.. I don't know! for me is not practical (i don't know if this is the word:P) at all, and even when I try to imagine some beneffits for changing your second name, i don't get to one.. maybe some legals ones but.. wich?
I'm lost in this name thing, sorry :(

Kisses

I don't see a reason for changing the second name, regarding the fast, that a DC would still be valid with the wrong name, if everybody knew who the DC belongs to. That's what I was told by 5 different lawyers.

So does this mean our DC point was invalid then?

I think that DC must show the person's legal name. If we check the link below (US standard certificate of death), we see it written in the first line: "1. DECEDENT’S LEGAL NAME (Include AKA’s if any) (First, Middle, Last)":

I hope it helps. I still think there is something strange with this Joe x Joseph story.
