Floods in Brisbane Australia has killed 15 people...with more than 70 people missing...lets pray relief from the floods come soon.

I live in Melbourne Australia and we are watching it all unfold........those poor people.
We are also experiencing some strange weather phenomenon with our weather also. It has been one of the wettest summer ever!!
What in hell is going on with this weather extremes we are experinecing???
This has to be a sign of irreversible global warming. I'm praying for the Queensland people. God Bless xoxoxo

Me too...I hope it stops raining for Brisbane and us...it was raining so hard today and they said it will rain the whole week...on Sunday the Tennis players like Rafa are having a rally...I wish I could go but I'm busy.

The unprecedented floods were also here in Poland last year. This is absolutely enormous disaster and I feel very sorry for the ones what have lost their lives and homes. I just feel that the forces of nature are giving us some strong warnings recently.

I'm watching skynews. It's just so devastating and sad. Mother nature is an uncontrollable force.
My thoughts are with everyone affected already, and those that will be affected in the days to come still. Goondiwindi is on high alert tonight.. I hope everyone makes it out safely.
And, I'm near Melbourne too. It's been raining heavy here.. The weather is unbelievable all over the east side of Oz. What a crazy summer. :shock:
But, it's all made me think of those science experiments to create rain...

Hail, lightning and gales came through the state’s eastern region this summer thanks to scientist-puppetmasters.
As part of a secret program to control the weather in the Middle East, scientists working for the United Arab Emirates government artificially created rain where rain is generally nowhere to be found. The $11 million project, which began in July, put steel lampshade-looking ionizers in the desert to produce charged particles. The negatively charged ions rose with the hot air, attracting dust. Moisture then condensed around the dust and eventually produced a rain cloud. A bunch of rain clouds…
While fascinating, this is not the first time scientists have attempted to mess with Mother Nature. China has been tinkering with cloud seeding for years, not always successfully.
But the idea that countries in the Middle East could actually create rain in this water-poor region could go a long way to solving the area’s problems with drought and is considered to be cheaper than desalination. But how controllable the weather can be is still in doubt, and the consequences of meddling with nature at this level are yet to be seen.... :!:

I too am in Melbourne, great to see so many of us that are in here but sad to meet in such circumstances. I am deeply saddened by what is happening in QLD at the moment. It saddens me that much I often find myself flicking over to 7WO to watch the tennis. I really want to help these poor people. I wish we could do some hands on stuff aswell as donating. Yes in Melbourne we are experiencing some strange weather too. It's very unusual for our state and especially at this time of year. It's very muggy and monsoonal type weather. The humidity is up and it's very wet, much like places closer to the equator. My thoughts go out to all the people affected by the floods and best of luck to any of you that may be on here who are fighting through these hard times. Always remember, you are not alone!

Heavy rain here too, but not melbourne ;)
The electricity restoration is going to take a very long time ,cause every house, effected by floods, needs to be inspected. Oh and Halls Gap is being evacuated, due to an increase levels of water in a lake there, may cause some flooding there. Our weather is crazy, bush fires ,and hot, 1 year, cold, wet and floods the next. :arrow: :?

I am down at the Mornington peninsula on holidays, and so far have hardly been to the beach......tonight, with all that rain, the humidity is so high and unbearable. Everything is damp, from the walls to the floors, and all the beds mattresses carpet etc...
We are having a plaque of mosquitos that are actually transmitting the mexamatosis virus amongst rabbits and is killing off all of the family pet rabbits. My sister has lost 3 rabbits to the virus.......I have one, and I'm watching him carefully.
This is not good for asthma sufferers.....the emergency departments at all the hospitals are inundated with severe attacks........
We just have to keep on praying...and HI and GOODAY to all my fellow Aussies.. xoxox

I'm a Brisbane girl. We were not flooded thankfully. It has been chaos. Most supermarket shelves are empty. No produce available as the Rocklea markets are under water. Pauls milk factory is on the river at sth Brisbane, so milk is unavailable unless Norco ships it up from northern NSW. People have been panic buying everything from bottled water to long life milk. Today was a sunny day here. Seems like the first one in months. What is most worrying is they are forcasting a cyclone to hit in 3 weeks time around Australia Day. And we can't take any more rain. I was here during the 74 floods as well, although a youngster, I still recall the smell and I am aware of what it will take to clean that mud out of people's houses. Our family will be doing our bit to help where we can with the clean up. The only good thing to come out of this is a great sense of community and strangers and neigbours performing random acts of kindness. People will pick themselves back up and start with the rebuilding of their lives again. We are Australians, we may get knocked down, but we don't stay down.

Thinking of those in Brazil too who have had devastating mudslides, and many, many loss of lives - they say hundreds - from the same kind of heavy rains. :cry:
They are saying it is all caused by the La Nina climate pattern.

Hi RK, glad to here you're not flooded. I was on the QLD/NSW border at Christmas for a week and it rained continually - heavy driving rain - and the ocean was brown from the river. Its not surprising it flooded like this afterweeks of that kind of rain . If there is going to be more bad weather - perhaps a cyclone - I hope people are able to get out of the area.

I feel very sad for all those suffering with these floods and food disruptions. I'm from Canada, but I just wrote this thing on Scotland's First Minister's New Year's speech. He said they had the worst weather in 100 years.

These are huge tragedies, both the floods in Australia/Brazil. I will be praying for the people, they need healing in so many ways right now.
If there are any other christian intercessors in this forum, will you all join me in interceeding for everyone affected? Let's put our prayers out to be heard by God, so he can start restorations/healings of his people.

It's like one extreme to the other Melbourne had Black Saturday (extreme heat) and now Queensland (extreme winds and rain) just one extreme to the other.Praying for all those affect by natural disasters around the world.

The rescue of a six-month-old baby boy yesterday has provided a ray of hope as Brazil struggles in the aftermath of this week's devastating floods and landslides.
Nicolas Barreto and his father were presumed dead after a landslide swallowed their home in the hilltop town of Nova Friburgo on Wednesday.
But almost 15 hours later, Brazilian firefighters discovered the pair alive. They had been cocooned in an underground air pocket and protected by the collapsed concrete roof of the property.

'We can consider this a miracle,' one of the rescuers said as the father and son were rushed to hospital.
The death toll has so far reached 524 and continues to rise, amid fears that further rain could claim many more lives this weekend.
Forecasters have warned that even light showers could send more mud cascading down hillsides.
The original mudslides were triggered by torrential rains that wreaked havoc through towns around Rio de Janeiro.
The storms, which began on Tuesday, sent tons of red mud and torrents of water rushing down mountainsides into the homes of rich and poor alike.
Scores of people are thought to have been buried alive as they slept, as 10 inches of rain fell in less than a day.

The worst affected town is Teresopolis, 40 miles north of Rio, where flash floods swept over already water-logged mountainsides, obliterating wooden shacks built on hillsides.
In the popular tourist town at least 130 residents were buried under mud as more than 1,000 homes were destroyed, the local Civil Defense agency said.
'There are so many disappeared - and so many that will probably never be found,' said Angela Marina de Carvalho Silva, who believes she may have lost 15 relatives to the flood, including five nieces and nephews.
'There was nothing we could do. It was hell.'
Carvalho Silva took refuge in a neighbour's house on high ground with her husband and daughter, and watched the torrential rain carry away cars, tree branches and animals and tear apart the homes of friends and family.

'It's over. There's nothing. The water came down and swept everything away,' said her husband, Sidney Silva.
In the neighboring mountain town of Nova Friburgo, at least 107 people died, according to an e-mailed statement from the Rio state Civil Defense department.
Among the dead were four firefighters who were helping in the rescue effort. Three other firefighters were listed as missing after their fire truck was hit by a mudslide.
President Dilma Rousseff signed a measure Wednesday sending $461 million to towns in Rio and Sao Paulo states that were damaged during the recent rains.
The money will go to repairing infrastructure and preventing future disasters.
Heavy rains and mudslides kill hundreds of people across Brazil each year.
Rescue operations are underway with the rainstorm having ended, but such is the volume of water that torrents continue to pour down the mountains.

Survivors waded through waist-high water, carrying what belongings they could, trying to reach higher ground or trying desperately to find relatives.
Rescuers used heavy machinery, shovels and bare hands to dig through debris in a search for survivors Wednesday.
The mayor of Teresopolis, Jorge Mario Sedlacek, decreed a state of emergency, calling the calamity 'the worst to hit the town.'
About 800 search-and-rescue workers from the state's civil defense department and firefighters dug for survivors.
In neighboring Petropolis, 20 people were confirmed dead by the Rio state Civil Defense department.
The death toll in the region was expected to rise as firefighters reach remote valleys and steep mountainsides where neighborhoods were destroyed, Teresopolis's mayor said.
Heavy rainfall also caused havoc earlier in Minas Gerais state north of Rio, where 16 people died in the past month and dozens of communities are in a state of emergency.
In Sao Paulo, flooding paralyzed main thoroughfares in the capital city since Sunday and 21 people died in collapsed homes, mudslides and flooding throughout the state.
Rio state Gov. Sergio Cabral called on the navy to lend helicopters to firefighters working as rescuers.
'We mourn the loss of lives in this tragedy caused by the rain,' Cabral said in a statement.

Does anyone from Melbourne know how the floods are there...I live in Melbourne but am overseas at the moment and I don't know if it is flooded near the city.
