Judge Michael Pastor ruled earlier this month that there is enough evidence to force Murray to stand trial.

Today's brief arraignment is part of the process.

The trial date is set for March 28.

If convicted, Murray faces a maximum of four years in prison.

By the way, we promised you we'd go live with the arraignment, but the technical wizards at  KABC TV in Los Angeles couldn't find the right cables to plug in.

Of course Murray is innocent!  :D

The trial date is set for March 28th...I thought it would take longer for that to get going.  At least the summer - maybe it'll end in the summer.

Dr. Conrad Murray Pleads Not Guilty in MJ Death

1/25/2011 9:18 AM PST by TMZ Staff

Dr. Conrad Murray just pled not guilty to involuntary manslaughter in the death of Michael Jackson ... telling the judge, "I am an innocent man."

When the judge asked Murray for his plea, he said, "Your Honor, I am an innocent man," adding, "I therefore plead not guilty."

Judge Michael Pastor ruled earlier this month that there is enough evidence to force Murray to stand trial.

Today's brief arraignment is part of the process.

The trial date is set for March 28.

If convicted, Murray faces a maximum of four years in prison.

By the way, we promised you we'd go live with the arraignment, but the technical wizards at  KABC TV in Los Angeles couldn't find the right cables to plug in -- they cover L.A. like no one.

--------------------------------------------
The "innocent man" remark reminds me of the Billy Joel song "An Innocent Man"

Some people stay far away from the door
If there's a chance of it opening up
They hear a voice in the hall outside
And hope that it just passes by

Some people live with the fear of a touch
And the anger of having been a fool
They will not listen to anyone
So nobody tells them a lie

I know you're only protecting yourself
I know you're thinking of somebody else
Someone who hurt you
But I'm not above
Making up for the love
You've been denying you could ever feel
I'm not above doing anything
To restore your faith if I can
Some people see through the eyes of the old
Before they ever get a look at the young
I'm only willing to hear you cry
Because I am an innocent man
I am an innocent man
Oh yes I am

Some people say they will never believe
Another promise they hear in the dark
Because they only remember too well
They heard somebody tell them before

Some people sleep all alone every night
Instead of taking a lover to bed
Some people find that it's easier to hate
Than to wait anymore

I know you don't want to hear what I say
I know you're gonna keep turning away
But I've been there and if I can survive
I can keep you alive
I'm not above going through it again
I've not above being cool for a while
If you're cruel to me I'll understand

Some people run from a possible fight
Some people figure they can never win
And although this is a fight I can lose
The accused is an innocent man
I am an innocent man
Oh yes I am
An innocent man

You know you only hurt yourself out of spite
I guess you'd rather be a martyr tonight
That's your decision
But I'm not below
Anybody I know
If there's a chance of resurrecting a love
I'm not above going back to the start
To find out where the heartache began

Some people hope for a miracle cure
Some people just accept the world as it is
But I'm not willing to lay down and die
Because I am an innocent man

I am an innocent man
Oh yes I am
An innocent man

And he will be convicted for manslaughter. But not homicide. Then defense will appeal, another time to wait.
But if we believe Michael is dead, then it should be homicide, not manslaughter. But no one will dig that far, unless prosecution appeals. AND IF MICHAEL IS ALIVE, then he should appear right there with his story and camera tape?
If Michael does not appear, then I don't know what  to think. Then when? Maybe never.

Michael Jackson case: Dr. Conrad Murray pleads not guilty [Updated]

Michael Jackson’s personal physician described himself as “an innocent man” during a Los Angeles Superior Court hearing Tuesday in which a judge set a March date for his trial in the pop star’s death.

Asked how he pleaded to the charge of involuntary manslaughter, Dr. Conrad Murray began, “Your honor, I am an innocent man -- "

“What’s your plea?” Judge Michael Pastor interrupted.

“Therefore, I plead not guilty,” Murray said.

The physician, who faces a maximum of four years in prison, surprised the judge by invoking his right to a speedy trial, meaning the case would have to begin by March 28.

Pastor remarked on the rarity of a defendant invoking his speedy-trial right but set jury selection for March 28. The judge said his “inclination” was to allow television coverage of the trial, which the defense said was likely to last two months.

Jackson died June 25, 2009, from an overdose of the surgical anesthetic propofol, which Murray told police he had been using to treat the singer’s chronic insomnia.

Murray’s attorneys said at a preliminary hearing earlier this month that there was evidence Jackson injected or drank a fatal amount of the drug when the physician wasn’t looking.

[For the record, 9:49 a.m.: A previous version of this post incorrectly stated the case would have to begin by March 2 for Murray to receive his right to a speedy trial.]

[For the record, 10:15 a.m.: An earlier version of this post incorrectly reported the date of Jackson's death as June 29, 2009.]

This is what is odd to me also: When the judge was reading the charge he started to say on or about... but didn't finish his sentence and give the date of June 25th 2009.

Murray did not stand up nor did his attorneys when addressing the court while pleading "Your honor I am an Innocent man"... Every time I have appeared before a judge I always stand and so does my lawyer, it is a sign of respect.

I have to amend my statement...I should have watched TMZ's clip first before I commented. The judge did say the date and it went like it should have. I also heard the judge say you may remain seated. This is a good example to me how info can get distorted when certain words are omitted when watching a hoax video.

A HUGE clue to me in all this is the defense statement: " Asked why the defense wants to begin the trial so quickly, Chernoff said, "Dr. Murray has been waiting 22 months for his opportunity to do this. It's the first chance we have to force the issue."
We are NOW at exactly 19 months!!  NOT 22 months.  And he said the doctor HAS BEEN WAITING, not will have been waiting by THAT time, if he meant by March 25th.  Besides, March 25th will be 21 months exactly.  AGAIN.  Not correct.  So, how could have Murray been waiting since March 25, 2009 for this trial?  And that means when the trial begins, it will have been EXACTLY 2 YEARS TO THE DATE that Murray has been waiting for it to begin.  Now, when people throw around time, they say "about" or an obscure time as, "a year and a half" so we know it's time either way.  But, a specific time as in a month, being 22 of them!!
I wonder if that was when, to the month, that Murray heard his part in the plan for a trial.  I wonder when he was hired for the TII concerts....I'm excited, because that was QUITE a mistake or certainty a clue...but it comes from the defense!! :))))

fordtocarr, I like your thinking! I heard this 22 months statement but was just coming in the room as he said it and wasn't sure I'd heard correctly! For a lawyer, who is trained in pin-point accuracy, this was indeed a strange 'mistake' to make .... unless of course it was no mistake!

Your post made me run to the calendar: Guess what?  22 months would put us at April 25th.  April 25th is Easter Monday this year.  More bunnies, anyone?   Resurrection? Hm...

Also, I looked at moonphases: Monday April 25th is start of last quarter moon (close to midnight- new moon?).

Indeed the Easter this year is on April 24.
If I remember well there were supositions about the last easter as well but........nothing happened.
Of course this doesn't mean it could not happen this year.
I worked for a crazy Virgo boss a few years ago and I'll remember for all my life what he did to us:

He invited us to a meeting and he didn't show himself, making us waiting for him for 3 hours but I suspected he was watching our reactions with a camera or something.
Next week he invited us again to a meeting and of course we were there at the planned hour but he wasn't. I was getting really nervous and even angry with him, I was sure he won't come, just like the previous time. But he did came 1 hour and a half later......so the first time we were very surprised he didn't come and the second time we were surprised he came.

I hope Michael will do the same and come back when we'll realy think he will never come back .

Did anyone find it odd that in the video the Judge referes to Michael as ......  Michael Joseph Jackson a HUMAN BEING just a strange way to phrase it, do they try other than people, maybe Mr Bugs Bunny  A RABBIT!       Is this the normal way they address people in american courts?

I think it's legalese as in manslaughter and homicide it has to be legally established that the victim was a human being.

I don't know if it's shopped.
But the rabbit is real, because you can see the rabbit in the video.
In the comments under the video there were also 2 persons who wrote about the pink panther ...  ;)  But I didn't see it in the video.

Oh my gosh...this takes us back to the first court proceedings with the taxi, etc. Now, we have the white bunny (magic). This is great. I also saw in the TMZ picture that there is a poster in the chair...what is on that poster? Is it of an airplane? The colors are red and yellow :)After seeing Ms Katherine's interview, this has lifted my spirits. Blessings!

Looks like a broken heart on the poster and a Coca cola button on the bunny ...Keep an eye on coca cola. sponsored by

The poster with the broken heart probably hs step by step CPR instructions.

There is another toy/stuffed animal of some sort behind the officer. It looks kind of like a dog to me. (circled in red)

@Voice....What I can make of that sign is:
Dept. 107
Phone #
213 ?74-5781 or (5731?)

I can't tell what is in front of that first seven.

Is the wall itself reflective? Or is there a glass panel there? It looks like you can see a reflection of another bald? guy in a suit to the left of the white sign.

They came back today with "but his license was suspended"...
WHAT will it take them to acknowledge that YES there is a big, big fish?
They tell me all the time how much the media are liars yet they are hanging at least half an hour every day over that tabloid trash.

Half an hour lost each day adds up to 7.6 days a year totally thrown into a garbage bin...
That makes one and a half week of vacation, holidays, time with your kids, your mom, your friends that you miss spending with them - every year!
Adds up to 395 days in a full life of 75 years (minus 5 years for old eyes and 18 years for growing up). That means more than one year of our precious life would get thrown into a garbage bin and we would have paid in addition for throwing it away.

THAT is a scam!

Question is why for heaven's sake a court room should in any way look like a living room with paintings, flower pots and toys.

This is disrespectful to the matter of "business" dealt with there.
I cannot say whether this shown interior trim were an standard appearance in Cali courts, U.S. courts or whether this is all just set up to make the staged situation obvious.
A court room is a court room is a court room and serves a purpose - and in order to serve that purpose it is empty except for the necessary of furniture and documenting technology.
Every employee serving in court may have a backoffice where he/she decorates the latest season's greetings, postcards, cultivate favourite forget-me-not flower pots etc. - if that is authorized at all. Toys may be needed for cases with kids only - stored in an office.
But not in a court room.

This is just so ridiculous.
I am still waiting for homedecorator's carpets and Laura Ashley curtains, puffs and cushions in TMZ reportages from court rooms. Oh and don't forget a flatscreen live reportage of the latest NBL and a cool beer...
Keep them coming, Harvey!

Courtrooms, generally, are pretty stark and stick to the basics (ie the judge's bench, the lawyers' desks, and a place for the court reporter, etc.  They have to keep them fairly neutral because different judges will use that courtroom.  Generally though in different jurisdictions, (ie family or probate judges) may use the same courtroom but because the hear so many cases, and there is always paper flying around, TOYS are not part of the courtroom decor lol.......but for trial purposes and so on, different judges will use different courtrooms.... so to decorate it with TOYS (LMAO) is far from the norm lol

I have to show this to my fellow non-believers...

They came back today with "but his license was suspended"...
WHAT will it take them to acknowledge that YES there is a big, big fish?
They tell me all the time how much the media are liars yet they are hanging at least half an hour every day over that tabloid trash.

UPDATE: my fellow non-believers bursted into laughing when I showed the pics to them.

"There's no business like show business", one of them commented.
I hope these seeds are not in vain and will grow beyond the "Hollywood frenzy".

What IS this, anyway? A court room or a romper room? I don't understand the overabundance of stuffed animals in a courtroom setting!

It's a Michael Jackson Production! ;)

I've always wondered about that photo of Michael on the stand with the Giraffe....what is the backstory there? Anyone know?

Thanks!
