Michael Jackson's mom talks about motherhood, family

Los Angeles (CNN) -- Katherine Jackson doesn't celebrate Mother's Day or birthdays for religious reasons.

But Michael Jackson's mother, who turns 81 on May 4, said she does believe in the tradition of sending flowers to a loved one.

"It means love, 'I was thinking about you today, so I'm sending you these flowers,' " Jackson said. "Sometimes when you might be feeling down and you get some flowers, it perks you up."

Jackson, who rarely gives interviews, spoke to CNN about the Katherine Jackson Flower Collection, which launches Tuesday on SendHerFlowers.com, just in time for Mother's Day.

"Flowers make me feel happy," she said.

While Jackson was eager to talk about flowers -- her favorites are red and yellow roses -- she was reluctant to speak on the record about what has made her feel sad lately.

Perhaps she would have the strength later to talk about her differences with the men who now control her late son's estate or the upcoming trial of the doctor charged in his death, but not yet, Jackson said.

She dreads sitting in court for Dr. Conrad Murray's involuntary manslaughter trial, which is set to last two months starting May 9, she said.

But she will be there, listening to testimony about how her son died. The judge has already ruled that prosecutors can show photographs from his autopsy.

"A mother's job is never done," Jackson said.

With the camera turned off, her frustration with the news media's coverage of the singer's life and death and of her family emerged.

For example, Katherine and Joe Jackson have sometimes been described as estranged. But after 61 years of marriage, they are still a couple in love, she said.

Her husband spends most of his time at the Las Vegas home given to them by daughter Janet Jackson, but it's not unusual for her to drive across the desert to spend a few days with her husband.

Joe Jackson often travels to Los Angeles to stay with his wife.

They sit together in court, sometimes holding hands.

She recently moved from the Encino mansion that was the Jackson family home for four decades and into a newly built mansion on a hilltop in Calabasas. Although the Hayvenhurst home is being remodeled, she hinted that she's not moving back.

With the camera turned back on, Jackson, who raised nine children and is now caring for Michael Jackson's three children, shared advice about motherhood.

She called it "the most important thing in the world."

"One thing about mothers -- they have to really be there for their children when they need her," she said. "They should be there at all times and know where your children are at all times. You must make your 'yes' mean 'yes' and let your 'no' mean 'no.' That's really the way to bring your children up."

It's the mother who holds the family together, she said.

"Yes, she's the glue that keeps the family going," Jackson said.

Thank you for sharing this article with us. It's very interesting.

On the surface it's very touching and you can feel the tender heart of Katherine in the words. You can feel the grief and pain that she has endured on behalf of seeing her children suffer and in turmoil. And you can also sense the guardedness that she holds toward the media. If one were an unbeLIEver I doubt you could read this without feeling compassion for her plight and anger at the situation all at the same time. If you are an MJ or MJ5 supporter it would make you want to go scream louder for justice for Michael.

On the other hand, if you are a beLIEver, you can look at this and read between the lines. There are several things that stood out.

For instance, the colors red and yellow were mentioned (red and yellow roses).

The number 7 is mentioned three times (8-1=7) (8+1=9 on 5+4=9 = 9+9=18 ; 8-1=7) (6+1=7). This is probably coincidence...

So, what was interesting is that she's living in a newly built mansion while Havenhurst is going through extensive remodeling and she hinted that she might not move back???? Why???? Hmmm...made me think of what Michael went through at Neverland in 2003-2005. He put a lot of money in Neverland. Neverland was basically tore apart by the investigators searching for evidence against Michael. After the trial ended he left and never returned. Symbolism?

When she mentioned "know where your children are at all times" I thought of Michael's song and the line "do you know where your children are". I also thought about it in reference to Michael - that she knows where he is?

I'm also glad she said something about her marriage. Just because they have two households doesn't mean they aren't happy or don't spend time together. I have a wealthy aunt and uncle who  have more than one house. One spends most of the time at one home because he likes it better and the other spends her time in Palm Springs but they are happy and travel back and forth to see each other quite often. And they travel to a third home too. Marriages have ups and downs but it doesn't mean they aren't happy.

Well, I'll be interested to see what others think of this article. Blessings.

So she has a new address (a newly built mansion on a hill) and not moving back to Havenhurst?    Well heck, I guess she's getting more from the Estate than previously acknowledged.  Wonder where it is.  What will happen with Havenhurst? Who will live there?

There was no point in remodelling the Hayvenhurst home if they are not moving back in...I guess it shows we can't always trust TMZ, but then what was the point of saying that they are remodelling...maybe they will sell it...or what about where KJ is staying now, I wonder if her permanent home will be Calabasas or maybe even Neverland.

Maybe it's possible that after they remodeled the hayvenhurst house, michael is going to live there with his children.
There where pictures of the house where KJ and kids are living now,TMZ published them, as i'm remember well.

Is this it?.

Plan for mystery mega-mansion sparks furor in 90210

A mystery landowner's plan to build an 85,000-square-foot family compound has set off a major kerfuffle in a tony Hollywood hills neighborhood whose residents include Bruce Springsteen, Jay Leno, and David Beckham, the Los Angeles Times reports.

The proposed "mega-mansion"—which would be located in the iconic 90210 zip code—will include a 42,681-square-foot main house, a double-winged "son's villa" of more than 27,000 square feet, a 4,400-square-foot guest house, a 5,300-square-foot staff quarters and a 2,700-square-foot gatehouse.

The owner's identity is being kept secret. But there are indications he could be a member of the Saudi royal family. A special business created to buy the land lists as its president Mansour Fustok of London. Fustok--who described the mansion to the Times as "just a normal Mediterranean-style house"--is the uncle of Prince Abdulaziz ibn Abdullah ibn Abdulaziz al Saud, one of Saudi King Abdullah's sons.

And the complex may be intended for the prince himself. According to a representative of Fustok's business, the owner is a single father of three. Prince Abdulaziz is divorced and has three children.

But residents of the Benedict Canyon neighborhood—including Hollywood honcho Michael Ovitz (pictured)—are worried about the project's potential for noise, pollution, and environmental damage. They've organized a campaign to block it, arguing that the owners are trying to get around a legally mandated environmental review.

Ovitz may not be the best front-man for the campaign. He himself once proposed a 28,000-square-foot megamansion on property straddling the Los Angeles-Beverly Hills border, which also generated heated opposition. The home, which ultimately was built, sits a stone's throw away from the site of the proposed compound.

HEY...it's a mystery :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Great article here on that house...good explanations...

The video above don't say it IS a sheik/prince, that is speculative because of the money involved.

Today I've been in Encino and stopped by Hayvenhurst to see what's going with the house and  found empty trash cans outside, in front of the gates. I tried to look behind the gates, but nothing was visible. I did not hear or observe any site of construction going on over there. Unless there is only a slight remodeling within the house.
ok I took a picture but could not figure out how to attach. WTF with the site changes.

Her words speak volumes.

* As mentioned - red and yellow roses, that has been brought up several times during this hoax.
* With the turn of events (the tribute that may or may not happen) - if she was so willing (by herself or by the hand of Michael) it looks as if she "dread" court too much.
* "A mother's job is never done" - I know as a mother this also includes protecting your children no matter the cost. As she has been doing their entire lives and especially since June 25th.
* "the most important thing in the world" regarding raising Michael's children. Of course it is, she is raising them while Michael is away, although we are certain he speaks and sees them. I don't think at this time he can be the full time parent he was before the hoax.
* "One thing about mothers - they have to really be there for their children when they need her. They should be there at all times and know where their children are at all times. You must make you 'yes' mean 'yes' and let your 'no' mean 'no.' That's really the way to bring your children up." - Since the final details of the hoax (before June 25th) she has been there for Michael (as well as any other occasion good or bad in his life). Of course she knows where Michael is.

Of course this is only my look at it.
