Title: Website migration
Post by: ~Souza~ on May 05, 2011, 04:25:59 PM

Website is up again, but this might change a few times again. Don't worry about it, it's being migrated in parts, that is why it's up one time, down the other. Here is what I posted on MJKIT ( I have re-opened a thread on there, so if this one gets offline again for a while, you can post on there again: http://mjkit.forumotion.net/forum.htm (http://mjkit.forumotion.net/forum.htm)

As most have noticed, the website and forum have been either very slow or unavailable the last 24 hours. If you go to the site now, it says "This Account Has Been Suspended". That does not mean that your account has been suspended, it means the account of the server the website is running on is suspended. Since Jermaine's tweets the last few days, we have had a major traffic increase. As I alsready posted on the original forum, around 179 unique visitors tried to access the website in the same second at its peak. If that would go on all day, it would be equal to 15 million visitors in 24 hours. It was a peak, but there is still so much traffic to it, that the server it was running on, could not handle it properly. It is a large server, but it was shared with another site that was not very busy when we first moved the site to it, but is extremely busy now and MJDHI also effects the speed of that website, so we have no choice than to move it again. This time to a dedicated server, so we don't have to share space anymore.

Because it will stay at the same host, the forum won't have to be re-installed like last time so it will not take that long, but the nameservers have to be changed once the migration is finished, and it can take 24 hours before you will be able to see the site again, depending on your own provider.

So nothing is wrong, it's just a little busy and we want to take measures immediately to keep the site running smoothly, also when traffic will increase even more.

I hope that explained it for you, if there are any questions, let me know and I will try to anser. For now we are back at our old home again until everyone can access the original board again.

The migration was succesful (only the chatroom didn't survive, will fix that later) and you should not have the "Account Suspended" message popping up anymore.

If you encounter difficulties or problems, let me know.
