MICHAEL JACKSON STAR MAPS
Banished from Death Site

The woman who has made a bundle selling star maps near the home where Michael Jackson died has been ordered to move her operation -- folding chair and all.

Linda Welton had a booming business after MJ died, servicing a steady stream of tourists who created a perilous line on Sunset Blvd. to buy maps from her.

Welton set up shop just feet from the house where MJ passed, and the owners of the estate sued her ... claiming they couldn't sell the property because Welton had created such a nuisance and safety hazard.

A judge has now ruled Welton must move her business ... but all is not lost.  The judge said Welton could sell her maps down the block, but the problem is that the new location is not visible from Sunset Blvd. .... which is how she gets much of her business.

The ruling doesn't solve all of the property owner's problems, because convoys of tour buses descend on the estate daily.

TMZ spoke with Welton ... who tells us she's happy with the judge's decision and claims she'll get to remain in the spot where she's always been ... even though she's barred from going any closer to the house where MJ died.

JOE JACKSON
Hocks Perfume in Tacky Mall

Joe Jackson must have been having an out-of-body experience Friday ... the man who played the role of marionette to one of the most successful musical groups ever spent the day hocking cheap perfume at a Las Vegas mall.

Joe was the special guest at the Julian Rouas Paris kiosk, which is hocking "Jackson Perfumes."    A famous sketch of Michael Jackson looms large amidst the perfumes.

And the whole operation may be illegal.

As TMZ previously reported -- Bravado International -- which owns the trademark to all things Michael Jackson -- is suing Julian Rouas Paris, alleging the company never got permission to use Michael's name or image.

But that didn't stop Joe, although it appears he dozed off during the slow period.

The good news ... there's no line if you want an autograph.

DR. CONRAD MURRAY
Jailmates with Michael Jackson's
Ex Brother-in-Law

There are nearly 4,000 inmates at L.A. County Men's Jail, so imagine the coincidence that Dr. Conrad Murray is in a cell just feet away from Michael Jackson's former brother-in-law.

James DeBarge -- Janet Jackson's ex-husband -- is locked up after being arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and drug charges. DeBarge -- who was the lead singer of the wildly popular band, DeBarge -- has been placed in Administrative Segregation -- the place where famous inmates with security issues are housed.

Murray has been calling the Ad Segregation unit home since his conviction on manslaughter charges last November.

We're told they occasionally run into each other, most recently last Monday when they were each meeting with their respective lawyers in the visiting room.

DeBarge's lawyer, Spencer Vodnoy, tells TMZ ... the singer is "really upset" he's so close to Murray. DeBarge says even though he was married to Janet for less than a year back in '84, he thought of Michael as a brother.

EL DEBARGE
My Jailed Bro Is NOT
a Dr. Murray Fan ... Yet

El Debarge says his famous incarcerated brother has a serious beef with jailmate Conrad Murray ... but El is confident the two can eventually work things out ... if Conrad plays his cards right.

As TMZ first reported, James and Murray are both being housed in the Administrative Segregation of the L.A. County Men's Jail ... which is awkward since James was Michael Jackson's brother-in-law back when he was married to Janet Jackson in 1984.

El -- who was leaving Tru nightclub in Hollywood last night -- told us his brother is a very loving man ... but insists James was pissed at Murray over the circumstances regarding MJ's death.

El tells us, "I don't really think they've had a chance to do a one-on-one talk and get an understanding ... I think once they finally do that, it'll be OK."

Still, El warns Conrad that forgiveness won't come easy ... "My brother James, he ain't no joke. My momma didn't raise no punk."

Look for El at the Grammys on Sunday because apparently he still makes music and was actually nominated.

TONY BENNETT
Drugs Should Be Legal After
Whitney, Michael & Amy's Deaths

Speaking just hours after the passing of Whitney Houston, legendary singer Tony Bennett said he feels with the rash of celebrity deaths recently ... it's time to legalize drugs.

Bennett performed at the Beverly Hilton last night Clive Davis' pre-Grammy party, in an evening dedicated to Houston. Bennett told the crowd, "First it was Michael Jackson, then Amy Winehouse, now the magnificent Whitney Houston. Let's legalize drugs, like Amsterdam, it's a very sane city now."

Davis, Houston's mentor and producer, remembered her by saying, "Whitney was a beautiful person and she had a talent beyond compare. She graced this stage ... so many times. So simply put: Whitney would have wanted the music to go on."

Jennifer Hudson is scheduled to perform a tribute in Houston's honor at tonight's Grammy Awards.

DR. CONRAD MURRAY
Medical License
Suspended in Texas

The Texas Medical Board suspended the license of Dr. Conrad Murray on Friday ... almost three years after the death of Michael Jackson.

Murray is currently serving a 4 year sentence for involuntary manslaughter. The board in Texas did not need to seek an emergency suspension of Murray's license after his conviction, a board spokesperson said, since he was behind bars and not a threat to patients in Texas.

The board spokesperson told the Houston Chronicle, "This achieves the same effect as license revocation."

Murray is seeking an appeal of his conviction.

MICHAEL JACKSON ESTATE
Claims MJ's Manager
Royally Screwed Him

Michael Jackson's Estate is going after Tohme Tohme, MJ's former manager, claiming he fleeced the singer out of millions of dollars.

TMZ has obtained legal docs filed by the Estate, claiming Tohme got Michael to sign agreements that earned him a fortune for doing nothing.

According to the papers, Estate attorney Howard Weitzman claims Tohme got MJ to agree to pay him $35,000 a month plus expenses as a flat fee -- regardless of what work Tohme performed.  On top of that, Tohme inked a deal that gave him 15% of any money Michael made.

And there's more ...Tohme introduced Michael to a lender that refinanced Neverland.  In return, Tohme got Jackson to pay him $2.4 million -- just for the introduction.   And Tohme got MJ to promise him 10% of any profits if the Ranch was sold.

Tohme also got MJ to agree to pay him $100,000 a month for the "This Is It" tour.

Estate lawyers are anticipating a lawsuit by Tohme against the estate for the money he claims he's owed, and the Estate wants to shut him down before a suit is filed.

The Estate is also asking for damages.

BTW, Michael fired Tohme 3 months before he died.

MICHAEL JACKSON'S EX-MANAGER
The Estate Is Screwing Me

Michael Jackson's former manager has filed a lawsuit against the MJ Estate, claiming he saved Michael Jackson after the molestation trial and in return he's been stiffed to the tune of millions of dollars.

Tohme Tohme says he was Michael's Manager from 2008 until shortly before his death.  Tohme claims he rehabilitated MJ both financially and personally after the trial, by coordinating media releases and shooting down false and malicious news stories about Michael.

Tohme says he saved Neverland by arranging refinancing, for which he was entitled to $2.3 million.

But the big thing -- Tohme takes credit for suggesting that MJ's final tour would be called, "This Is It."   According to the suit, during a discussion with Michael and AEG, Tohme chimed in that Michael selling the name, "This Is It" in a "high-spirited tone" would be a smash.

In addition to the $2.3 mil, Tohme wants 15% of the money Michael made from July, 2008 until the present.

The Estate has already rejected Tohme's claim and even filed legal docs today, claiming Tohme took advantage of Michael and did nothing for him.

CONRAD MURRAY
D.A. Says He's a
Danger to Society
(http://www.tmz.com/2012/02/21/dr-conrad-murray-jail-appeal-danger-to-society-michael-jackson/)

The D.A. is alarmed that Dr. Conrad Murray is asking the trial judge to spring him from the pokey while he appeals his conviction in the death of Michael Jackson -- arguing Murray is a danger to society.

According to the new docs, obtained by TMZ, prosecutors say Murray has shown no remorse for his "reckless and criminal conduct that directly caused Michael Jackson's death."  In other words, the D.A. says Murray just doesn't get it, and he could engage in the same conduct again if the judge lets him loose.

The D.A. also claims Murray is a flight risk, because he no longer has strong ties to California now that his medical license has been revoked.

As for Murray's grounds for appealing the conviction, the D.A. claims they're all bogus.  The D.A. makes mention of the judge's decision to exclude Dr. Arnold Klein's testimony.  Klein gave MJ scores of Demerol shots in the months preceding his death, but the D.A. says no traces of the drug were found in MJ's body at the time of his death.

JOE JACKSON
Wrongful Death Lawsuit
Tossed Out of Court

Joe Jackson screwed up by filing a Michael Jackson wrongful death lawsuit against AEG ... a judge has just ruled.

Joe filed his wrongful death lawsuit AFTER Katherine Jackson filed hers -- on her own behalf and on behalf of the kids.

It's unclear why Joe didn't try to join in Katherine's suit rather than filing a separate one on his own.  It's possible Katherine didn't want him.

Whatever the reason, the judge said you can't have 2 suits that allege the exact same thing, and since Katherine filed first Joe loses.

Joe could now try to horn in on Katherine's legal action -- if she'll let him.

I Didn't Kill Michael Jackson ...
Stress Did

Dr. Conrad Murray just filed legal docs in which he claims his manslaughter conviction should be overturned, on grounds that the judge should have allowed him to prove ... Michael Jackson was so stressed out over his financial woes ... he recklessly rolled the dice by self-administering a fatal dose of Propofol.

Murray is responding to the D.A.'s claims that he should stay in jail pending appeal because the grounds for challenging the conviction are bogus.

Murray makes a number of arguments, but the most interesting is the section titled, "Financial Condition of Michael Jackson."  Murray's lawyers put it this way:  "Mr. Jackson was in debt approximately $440 million and desperately needed to fulfill a contractual commitment at the O2 arena in London."

The lawyers go on:  "He was on the verge of losing his entire estate to foreclosure.  The pressure to fight through his insomnia, to rehearse and be the entertainer he was in his earlier years was overwhelming."

And then the lawyers bring it home:  "His motivation and resulting desperation were relevant to show a likelihood or reason to act in a manner inconsistent with good judgment."

The lawyers believe it was an error for the judge to exclude evidence of MJ's financial desperation.

Dr. Conrad Murray hasn't even COME CLOSE to paying for the crime of killing Michael Jackson ... and should NOT be granted early release as he's requested ... this according to La Toya.

LTJ was at LAX yesterday when we asked what she thought of Murray's recent request to be freed from jail early while he works on his appeal ... claiming he doesn't pose a threat to society.

La Toya's response -- "Absolutely NOT ... my brother's not free."

Bonus Moment -- We asked La Toya about her days with the Psychic Discoveries Network ... and she TOTALLY DROPPED A PSYCHIC BOMBSHELL!!! Check out the clip.

DR. CONRAD MURRAY'S GF
Please Release Him ...

Dr. Conrad Murray's girlfriend is begging the court to let him out of jail pending his appeal ... claiming he's a "good father" to their toddler.

Nicole Alvarez -- who played the femme fatale during the trial -- filed a declaration of support for Murray today ... in which she says if Murray is released he will live with her and their 2-year-old son in Santa Monica.

It's not the most powerful or emotional letter. Alvarez says, "Dr. Murray is the father of my child" -- and adds ... he "has been our primary source of support."

It's unclear how much support Murray can provide now -- considering his medical license has been revoked.

Murray's hearing for bail pending appeal of his manslaughter conviction is scheduled for tomorrow morning in downtown L.A.

MICHAEL JACKSON ESTATE
Judge Approves Move
To Sell Michael's House
(http://www.tmz.com/2012/02/23/katherine-jackson-michael-jackson-estate-sell-home-havenhurst/)
2/23/2012 5:38 PM PST BY TMZ STAFF

The Michael Jackson Estate just got the ok from a judge to sell the Hayvenhurst mansion which Michael and the rest of the family called home for decades, and buy another home for Katherine and MJs kids.

But here's the thing.   We've learned the Estate doesn't want to sell Hayvenhurst -- at least for now, because it's being extensively renovated.  But the Estate now has the green light to proceed whenever it chooses.

And the judge made another order -- allowing the executors to put $30 million in the Jackson Family Trust for the benefit of Katherine, Michael's kids, and his charities.

Katherine's lawyer, Perry Sanders, tells TMZ, "It is our understanding that the motion to sell Hayvenhurst was withdrawn and this is merely for permission to buy a different place for the beneficiaries to reside."  He adds, "Neither Mrs. Jackson nor Michael's children want Hayvenhurst to be sold and we are not aware of any intention on the part of the estate to resubmit a request to sell the family home."

DR. CONRAD MURRAY
Denied Freedom
During Manslaughter Appeal
(http://www.tmz.com/2012/02/24/conrad-murray-michael-jackson-manslaughter-appeal/)

Dr. Conrad Murray was just shot down by a judge, denying him bail while he appeals his manslaughter conviction in the death of Michael Jackson.

During today's hearing, Judge Michael Pastor found Murray is still a flight risk because he does not have significant property or family ties here in Los Angeles.

Judge Pastor also believes Murray is a danger to society -- citing the NBC documentary, in which Murray fails to show any remorse for MJ's death.

Pastor said "it scares me" that Murray believes it's okay to use Propofol in a home setting -- and insists he could pose a danger to the safety of other people if he were released.

Murray had previously filed a motion asking for bail so he could spend time with his family while he awaits the outcome of his appeal.

Murray is hoping to overturn his manslaughter conviction on grounds he never had a chance to prove Michael killed himself  due to stress ... among other reasons.

Murray's appellate attorney Valerie Wass says she believes Murray is a "scapegoat," who's being blamed for Michael's death because there's no one else to target.
