Title: We Are the World 2010
Post by: neversaynever on January 21, 2010, 03:28:13 PM
Interesting.... interesting... Just read this. And Michael was incorporating WRTW in TII, it was rerecorded. He thought of everything, didn't he? Read the last paragraph.

http://showbiz411.blogs.thr.com/2010/01 ... ncy-jones/ (http://showbiz411.blogs.thr.com/2010/01/20/we-are-the-world-25-sequel-aid-haiti-quincy-jones/)

EXCLUSIVE: This column has learned that Quincy Jones and Lionel Richie are planning a massive 25th anniversary re-recording of “We Are the World.”

The timing couldn’t be better, sadly enough.

The duo is summoning lots and lots of talent from Grammy weekend to stay an extra night — Monday Feb. 1 — and come to the Nokia Theater in Los Angeles. There, they will celebrate a quarter century since Ken Kragen, Richie and Michael Jackson organized the original “We Are the World” with Quincy.

This time the artists invited include Usher, Natalie Cole, and John Legend. But you can bet that more names will be added shortly and that all the Grammy nominees and participants will be asked to come as well. Grammy producer Ken Ehrlich will produce the event, which will then be turned into a video and single just like it was in 1985. Don’t be surprised if Wyclef Jean joins in, along with Sting, Fergie, Alicia Keys, Justin Timberlake and other distinctive voices.

It’s hoped that as in 1985, everyone will “leave their egos at the door.”

Originally, this anniversary celebration was to be held on Jan. 28. But when the Haiti earthquake happened, sources tell me, the whole deal changed. Now proceeds will go to Haiti relief. In 1985, “We Are the World,” which begat Live Aid, raised money for Africa relief.

Plans are still sketchy, but one thing’s for sure: In some way, the song’s co-author Michael Jackson will be invoked. AEG is co-producing this event. They’re also putting together a 3D tribute to Michael for the Grammy show from elements Jackson was going to use for his tour. Jackson recorded “We Are the World” for what became “This Is It.” Surely he’ll be included here as well, which will make the whole project even more poignant.
Stay tuned. PS: Quincy Jones is about to release what has been described to me as a landmark new album that he’s made with contemporary R&B and hip hop artists. He was responsible for the original “We Are the World” and will guide the new one. He is not a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, in case you were wondering.

And we wondered how MJ was going to help Haiti?????  This just blows me away!

If I understand it properly, they plan to include MJ's voice recorded for TII. Very interesting indeed.

Well, when Michael comes back at the end of the Grammys i'm sure he'll be more than happy to spend an extra day there and go to the recording studio to put down fresh vocals for the new version.    :D

Remember the notes they said they found in Michael's room? One of them reminded him to include " We are World" in the show?  IF he recoreded it for TII - why was it left out of the movie and the CD? This is such an important song!  This to me... is another message. The song will be used to help the people of Haiti, just as Michael would. Michael's voice will be included in the recording. This is all extremely amazing. We are moving to a phase in this hoax where his message is being spread again. Earth song and now this.

Why wasn't this information of him re-recording We Are The World before his "death" released earlier? That seems to be a major element left out. Hmmm... I wonder what else he did before June 25th.  ;)

Yeah, and if he recorded it just because he felt like it or whatever, how AMAZINGLY COINCIDENTAL that he would die and then they would reuse it!
Also, it's just AMAZING that he happened to change "pain" to "pains" in WYBT.

What OTHER songs did he have the presence of mind to rerecord, just months before he, you know, died?

I can't get the "pain" vs. "pains" bit out of my head! Have we come to the conclusion that this version hadn't been heard b4 cuz I've searched and can only find the "pain" version? God I don't wanna get excited but can't help it!

Yeah, after I heard pains, I went and looked up every version of WYBT that I could find.

Pain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRqYVFr7sL4 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CRqYVFr7sL4)

Okay, you say, maybe that's because it's recorded in a studio. What about live?

Live, pain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvYygjcM ... L&index=24 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PvYygjcMDdQ&feature=PlayList&p=D455C231A3F521A6&playnext=1&playnext_from=PL&index=24)

Live, pain: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvyEs4ay ... re=related (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QvyEs4ayvSU&feature=related)

So why "painS" at the memorial?

Lionel and Michael wrote the song and Jones produced the first "We are the World" so it stands to reason they would be called for the rerecorded. IT doesnt say he re-recorded though in those exact words, its recorded for -maybe meaning the same I guess? It just is odd that we didnt hear about it before.

This is very interesting.  Since the Haiti earthquake, I have felt that MJ and the help/support that he would have garnered for the Haitians was sorely missed -- and now this!  Somehow I have felt that something along these lines was going to happen.

Me too! :o  When I first heard the news about the devastation in Haiti, I instantly thought "This is TERRIBLE!". Then I thought of Michael. If he is alive, I don't think he would pass up the chance of helping these people out. Even I couldn't watch all those children suffer.

I just came across this interesting site & was shocked by the new WRTW update they had. Have a look here:

http://arvenru.wordpress.com/2010/03/05 ... the-world/ (http://arvenru.wordpress.com/2010/03/05/project-we-are-the-world/)

Tell me what you make out of this...Are we subconsciously reading too much into everything as the hoax prolongs Or could there be something more than mere innocent coincidence here?

And oh, regardless of the truth/logic/explanation(s) behind it all, our "green man" sure did leave quite an impression on me!  ;)    :P :D
