i have heard reference to the piece by piece
but what is this and what would you say are the pieces that are coming together, i am a little dim and dont see anything

In the beginning of TII, Kenny Ortega said:

The piece by piece, theoretically, stands for the section of the Return phase(not to be confused with the BAM *moment of return*).
Slowly he is revealed (piece by piece), by clues that are on TMZ, and in various other mediums (interviews with the Jacksons, etc).
Thats the best I could explain it :D
