Quaids: 'We are requesting asylum from Hollywood star whackers'
By the CNN Wire Staff October 24, 2010 6:04 p.m. EDT

(CNN) -- It sounds like a plot out of an upcoming Halloween horror movie, but for troubled actor Randy Quaid and his wife, Evi, their fear of "Hollywood star whackers" is real.

The couple, facing burglary charges in Santa Barbara, California, stemming from a September incident, are seeking asylum in Canada, where they were arrested last week, Randy Quaid's attorney, Robert M. Sanger, told CNN on Sunday.

"The Quaids are contesting their extradition in Vancouver and, if the matter is returned to Santa Barbara, we will address the issues in court," Sanger said.

Outside their immigration hearing in a Vancouver court on Friday, their local attorney held up a handwritten note from the Quaids, which read: "Yes we are requesting asylum from Hollywood 'star whackers.'"

As the Quaids were entering the hearing, they briefly addressed reporters about their fears.

"Canada is a very protective nation," Randy Quaid said.

"Hollywood is murdering its movie stars for ad sales. ... We want asylum from the murderous people in Hollywood. Accountants and lawyers -- embezzlers," Evi Quaid said, adding that "Heath Ledger was murdered."

Ledger, a co-star of Randy Quaid's in 2005's "Brokeback Mountain," died in 2008 of an apparent drug overdose.

When asked whether they had drug and alcohol problems, both Quaids responded, "No."

A California judge issued a bench warrant October 18 for the couple's arrest after they failed to appear for a court hearing related to their September arrest.

The Quaids were due in court on burglary charges after police were called to a Montecito, California, residence to investigate a report of squatters. A new court date has been scheduled for Tuesday.

A representative for the owner of the property came by the house to check the security alarm because it had gone off earlier that day and then discovered that someone was living in the property's guesthouse, according to the Santa Barbara County Sheriff's Department.

The Quaids weren't around at the time, but upon their return later that evening the couple told police that they have "owned the property since the 1990s," a statement from the sheriff's department said. The owners had documentation that another buyer had purchased the property from the Quaids several years earlier, according to the statement.

A contractor who worked on the residence told police he believes the couple caused more than $5,000 in damages in the guesthouse, and the Quaids were charged with residential burglary.

Their September arrest comes amid a year of troubles for the couple. Earlier this year, the Quaids were both facing felony charges of defrauding an innkeeper and skipping out on a $10,000 hotel bill in Santa Barbara, California, in September 2009. The felony charges were dropped in April after Evi Quaid accepted a plea deal in the case. She was sentenced to three years of probation and 240 hours of community service.

Randy Quaid, 60, is known for his roles in several films, including the "National Lampoon" movies, "Kingpin" and "Brokeback Mountain." He was nominated for an Academy Award for his supporting role in 1973's "The Last Detail." His younger brother is actor Dennis Quaid.

Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars? Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, "I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight," people would say, "Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a single word that comes out of his mouth."

Check out this new link from the Vancouver Sun.  I could not get it to copy and paste, so I am only posting the link, but the link is from a reputable newspaper (the Province) here in Vancouver, BC.  It states in part in the article:

"He spoke of a "conspiracy to steal his property and money" by three Hollywood lawyers who have worked for him in the past 20 years.

Quaid said they "gained access to my revenue streams" through things like a "phoney probate file", "fake loans" and "bogus corporations".

He said the lawyers were aided by a Beverly Hills Bank "through bogus acounts, money was taken without my knowledge, he said."

It continues on........what caught my eye was the phoney probate file.....hmmmm wonder what is going down in Hollywood???

I don't know what to make of this story. And it has been cropping up regularly. Then I was watching something on TMZ I think and there was another story about their dog. I'm still trying to understand Randy's wifes words. I'm trying to wrap my mind around  how killing celebs equates to add sales. Unless everybody tunes in for the news and so the price paid to advertise in the prime time slot skyrockets? Same for tabloids maybe?

I think this is what is going on with Charlie Sheen, not saying he dosne't have problems but they seemed to have really gotten out of controll since he spoke out about 9-11 being a conspiracy :|

This whole thing is confusing to me, if indeed Randy Quaid believes that this is going on and isn't just a personal vendetta against him by these lawyers, why don't the rest of Hollywood seem that worried?  No offense to Randy but there are bigger stars out there and if this were true wouldn't they be a bigger target than him?  Of course there's a lot of talk about Scientology and how many actors and actresses are members either openly or secretly (I'm thinking the reports of Will Smith here), so maybe there are other things going on beneath the surface.  I wouldn't be surprised if famous people who mention 9/11 being a conspiracy are hounded but I think Charlie Sheen has always been a bit of a handful to say the least.  So much corruption goes on whenever huge amounts of money are to be made.  It's a murky world and while before June 25th 2009 I would've found this story bizarre and would have wondered if Mr Quaid was going crazy I now think I'll reserve judgment and give him the benefit of the doubt.  Maybe he is paranoid and maybe it's a personal vendetta against him and his wife alone, who knows, but there could be something big about to break.  We'll see if any other celebs comment in support.

In a world filled with despair, we must still dare to dream.  And in a world filled with distrust, we must still dare to believe.

Whoever gets 'out of line', get's dissed. From my point of view, Randy was/is a working actor, but more or less 'tolerated' by the big bosses because he is Dennis Quaids' brother. It seems, as if Dennis is the one who plays along with the industry rules whereas Randy must have come to the point where he didn't want to put up with this business BS any longer. Because this story lastst now for some years, I say it again, he was 'tolerated' in the business because of connections, but that's about it. That he seeks 'asylum' is a serious sign for me, that he was in danger, because he got 'out of line'. I don't know with what, but he did. Otherwise they wouldn't pull such bad tricks on people.

Heath Ledgers' death was weird in my eyes, as well. How come, soooo many actors/actresses die? Brittany Murphy? Her husband? David Carradine?   Coincidence? Uhm - NO.

Same with Michael. He decided to step out of line and the PTB don't like that so he got dissed. Proud of MJ for having the courage to do so. And now hoaxing his death to kick their b****. He knows what he's doing but the others underestimate him still.
