Too many Hollywood Murders in Entertainment!
November 17, 2010, 07:51:19 PM
I am beginning to sense that something is really wrong in Hollywood!  With Michael's death, and Peter Lopez, and now this!   Remember how the Quaids said they are leaving Los Angeles, because you can get killed !!     Their story sounded ridiculousat first, but now I am not so sure, maybe they are somehow correct.

The famed publicist crashed into a light pole at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday.
Famed publicist Ronni Chasen died after being shot five times in Beverly Hills early Tuesday morning.

our editor recommends
Tribute: Hollywood Player...Chasen then crashed her Mercedes-Benz into a light pole around 12:30 a.m.

Ed Winter, spokesperson for the Los Angeles County coroner's office, confirms her death to The Hollywood Reporter. An autopsy will be completed Wednesday or Thursday.

A Beverly Hills Police spokesperson tells THR: "On November 16th 2010 at approximately 12:28 a.m. Beverly Hills police officers received info regarding shots that were heard in the area of Sunset and Whittier, shortly after a collision was reported in the same area. Units arrived and discovered a newer black Mercedes Benz E-350 involved in a solo crash to the light pole. The lone female occupant was located in the vehicle with apparent multiple gunshot wounds to her chest. Beverly Hills paramedics transported the victim to a local hospital where she was later pronounced deceased. The investigation is in the preliminary stages and no further information is available at this time. At this time there is no suspect, info or motive for this crime."

A spokesman from the Beverly Hills police department added that some search warrants have been issued as a matter of routine, a forensic examination of the car is underway and "our detectives are looking at all aspects of this crime." He said the investigation is in its "infancy" and the police are not putting forward any theories regarding the murder at this time.

"It's an unusual incident for the City of Beverly Hills," he added.

Police called to the scene said Chasen was "in and out of consciousness, but breathing,"  according to RadarOnline.com. She was taken by ambulance to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was pronounced dead.

Earlier that night, Chasen -- as always a presence on the red carpet eagerly tending to her clients' interests -- attended the premiere of Burlesque.

Chasen began her career as a publicist in 1973, and worked on films such as 1989's Driving Miss Daisy and 1997's Lolita.

In February 1993, she was named senior vice president of worldwide publicity at MGM.

"I was both delighted and surprised when MGM approached me about this position," Chasen said then. "I've given this very careful thought, and, although I will miss working with my personal clients on a day-to-day basis, I look forward to this new opportunity with great enthusiasm ... this will be a very exciting period for the company, and I am delighted to join the MGM team."

Chasen also worked for Rogers & Cowan for a number of years.

Murdered Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen suspected she was being followed as far back as March, sources tell Page Six. The well-liked industry veteran told a friend she believed she was being followed shortly after the 2010 Oscars.

Our source said, "Ronni said in March she suspected she was being followed, but didn't know by whom. She said she was scared. Some people close to her believe it was a hit, but nobody knows why."

It was unclear if Chasen, who was shot to death in her car in Beverly Hills as she drove home after the party for the new movie "Burlesque" at 12:30 a.m. on Tuesday, contacted police at the time.

Ronni ChasenFormer NYPD and LAPD chief William J. Bratton, who now works in private security in New York, told us, "This is a real Hollywood whodunnit. Four days in we still have no idea [what happened]. Nobody seems to have come up with anything substantive as far as motive goes. Beverly Hills has very few homicides, so every resource they have will be focused on this."

Beverly Hills Police Lt. Tony Lee declined to divulge any aspects of the investigation, saying, "People are coming out with all types of theories. But we will not rule out anything until the perpetrator is found."

Neighbors reported hearing gunfire and found Chasen's car crashed on Whittier Drive, a street of multimillion-dollar homes just south of Sunset Boulevard.

The Hollywood Reporter yesterday said Beverly Hills police were working on a theory that the attack was planned and not the result of road rage or a carjacking.

Detectives suspect Chasen, 64, was shot through the passenger-side window from another vehicle -- possibly an SUV, because of the high angle of shots fired, Beverly Hills Mayor Jimmy Delshad told the LA Times.

Officers searched Chasen's home and office, taking away her computers, but say they're still trying to identify who might have wanted to harm her.

Leaked Coroner's Report Raises More Questions in Slain Hollywood Publicist Case
Today 7:35 PM PST by Natalie Finn

Just like in the movies that Ronni Chasen lived to promote, the plot is thickening.

With police having already determined that someone shot the veteran publicist before her car crashed into a pole on a quiet Beverly Hills street, investigators have since discovered at least one hollow-point bullet in Chasen's body.

The 9 mm hollow-point, which is made to expand once it hits its mark, was found in her back. She was shot three times in the chest, according to a leaked coroner's report obtained by KTTV.

The official autopsy report isn't expected to be released until later this week.

Hollow-point bullets, while commonly used in police work to reduce the risk of bystanders being hit by gunfire, also cause more immediate damage to surrounding tissue once they enter the body then solid bullets.

In the early hours of Nov. 16, the 64-year-old Chasen pulled up to a Sunset Boulevard stoplight and an unknown assailant shot her through the passenger-side window of her Mercedes-Benz, after which she crashed her car into a post at the corner of Whittier Drive.

She had just attended the premiere party for Burlesque.

Hundreds of people gathered for Chasen's funeral Sunday morning at Hillside Memorial Park Cemetery.

Ronni Chasen slaying: Suspect shoots himself as police serve search warrant
December 1, 2010 |  7:23 pm

A man believed to be connected to the slaying of veteran Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen fatally shot himself at a Hollywood hotel Wednesday evening as Beverly Hills police were serving a search warrant there, sources told The Times.

The name of the man was not released, and his exact connection to the Chasen murder case was not immediately known. The shooting occurred after 6 p.m., according to two law enforcement sources who spoke on the condition that they not be named. The two sources said police believe he was involved in Chasen's death.

Chasen was shot to death last month while driving her Mercedes-Benz near the intersection of Whittier Drive and Sunset Boulevard in Beverly Hills. She was on her way home from a movie premiere after-party.

She is believed to have left the event about midnight, traveling west on Sunset. Friends believe she had planned to head south to her condominium on Wilshire Boulevard near the grounds of the Los Angeles Country Club.

Several residents dialed 911 at the time of the attack. The first call, from a person who lives near Sunset and Benedict Canyon Drive, reported a gunshot.

Moments later, more 911 calls came in reporting shots heard several blocks to the west, near Whittier and Sunset. Another resident called 911 to report hearing the car crash into the light pole.

Residents who heard the crash found Chasen slumped over the steering wheel, bleeding. The passenger-side window of her car was shattered. One person who lives next to where Chasen's car came to a stop said she heard several shots, followed moments later by what she believed was the sound of a vehicle crashing.

Suspect in Beverly Hills Murder Shoots, Kills Himself
12/2/2010 3:35 AM PST by TMZ Staff

A suspect in the murder of Ronni Chasen, the Beverly Hills publicist who was murdered on the streets of
Beverly Hills, shot himself dead Wednesday after cops confronted him.

The suspect -- known as Harold -- had been under surveillance for some time by the Beverly Hills Police
Department, according to the Los Angeles Times.

He was living at the Harvey Apartments in Hollywood, which is where cops found him late Wednesday.
With search warrant in hand, cops told Harold to raise his hands.  Harold refused, and shot himself in
the head.  He died at the scene.

It's unclear if cops suspected Harold was the shooter or an accomplice. According to The Times, Harold
had told a neighbor he was supposed to be getting $10,000 soon.

A neighbor told KABC-TV Harold bragged that he "offed her" and got paid for it.

VIDEO on TMZ Site the link doesn't work so watch there.

Harold had allegedly served prison time for firearms and drug violations.

Lead in Publicist Murder Case Could Hit Dead End
12/3/2010 10:50 AM PST by TMZ Staff

The "person of interest" in the Ronni Chasen murder case may have actually shot himself dead because he feared he was going back to prison for possibly committing several burglaries in the area where he lived, and not for the Chasen murder ... law enforcement sources tell TMZ.

As we first reported yesterday, the "person of interest" is Harold Martin Smith.  He has a long criminal record, including two robberies and at least 4 burglaries.

Our law enforcement sources tell us ... there were several recent burglaries near the Harvey Apartments in L.A. -- where Smith lived -- and the suspect matches Smith's description.

Law enforcement sources tell us ... detectives believe there's a good chance that when Smith was confronted by law enforcement Wednesday, he thought he was being arrested for the burglaries, not the Chasen murder.

As for the Beverly Hills PD, our sources say detectives have no evidence so far linking Smith to the crimes.  Detectives are conducting ballistics and other forensic tests, but the results are not expected back until next week.  Until then, Smith will remain a person of interest.

For sure this is a DEAD END Serenys_ Dream  ,MMMMM
This is the update that was put on internet yesterday about this case:

Police: Hollywood publicist killed by lone gunman

By GREG RISLING, Associated Press Greg Risling, Associated Press – Thu Jan 20, 5:03 pm ET
LOS ANGELES – An ex-con acted alone in gunning down Hollywood publicist Ronni Chasen during a botched robbery, police said Thursday, ending speculation that he may have conspired with someone to kill her.

The case against Harold Martin Smith, a career criminal, was concluded, although it will be a couple more weeks before it is formally closed, Beverly Hills Police Chief David Snowden told The Associated Press.

Smith, 43, killed himself Dec. 1 when police arrived at a Hollywood apartment building to question him about the shooting.

Chasen, 64, was shot multiple times in the chest on Nov. 16 as she drove her Mercedes-Benz through Beverly Hills after attending the premiere of the movie "Burlesque."

Speculation about possible motives bubbled after the killing and ranged from road rage to a gang initiation killing.

A popular theory whispered around Hollywood was that Chasen was targeted by a hit man, but a tip to the show "America's Most Wanted" led detectives to Smith.

Snowden said there was no conspiracy.

Many of Chasen's friends initially had difficulty accepting that Smith, a small-time criminal living on the edges of society, could have shot Chasen repeatedly then slipped away without anyone seeing him.

Snowden's comments came after he first spoke to the Hollywood Reporter on Wednesday and said a final ballistics report showed Smith shot Chasen.

Still somewhat skeptical, Chasen's longtime friend, Oscar-nominated songwriter Carol Connors, said she respected the police and would have to accept their conclusion.

"To have something as outrageous and beyond comprehension as this be what it is shows that life is not always what we think it is," she said. "A true tragedy."

A phone message left with Chasen's sister-in-law Cynthia Costas Cohen was not immediately returned.

Chasen was an influential behind-the-scenes player in Hollywood with a long track record in promoting films such as "Driving Miss Daisy," "On Golden Pond," "Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps" and others, as well as their stars. She also promoted movie soundtracks and songs.

Hours before she was killed, Chasen had been promoting "Burlesque." One of the honorary pallbearers at her funeral, songwriter Diane Warren, won her first Golden Globe last week for "You Haven't Seen the Last of Me" from that movie. Warren dedicated the award to Chasen.

Police believe Smith, who had a rap sheet dating back at least 25 years, rode a bicycle and tried to rob Chasen. Nothing was stolen, most likely because she tried to get away as she was being shot.

Investigators have portrayed Smith as a desperate man with little going for him at the time of the shooting. Smith told neighbors at the apartment building where he shot himself that he would never return to prison.

Court documents show Smith was a double felon who had been convicted twice of burglary and most recently had been released from prison in 2007 after serving time for robbery.

Associated Press writer John Rogers contributed to this story.

DO THEY REALLY THINK WE WILL BELIVE THIS????? :(

I'm sorry but I don't believe this,it's something more to this story.... :?

why they show the picture of the dead woman in a blue bag? Michael's body in white bag? Isn't it suppose to be in a blue bag when someone dies? I presume the white bag a person can breathe through it. But the blue bag it is thicker and a person cannot breathe. Does some one have a better explanation, because I ran out   blessings.
