SIMILARITES TO MJ LIFE!!!!!!
June 04, 2011, 01:40:04 PM
PAUL Merton uses the second instalment of this three-parter to right an unfair wrong against one of his silent movie heroes, Roscoe “Fatty” Arbuckle.

Arbuckle was a friend and mentor of Charlie Chaplin and Buster Keaton who was also Hollywood’s highest paid actor.

But many people who have heard of Arbuckle today believe he was guilty of a terrible sex crime – particularly if they have read Kenneth Anger’s Hollywood Babylon, which describes the death of a young woman after a party in Arbuckle’s hotel room.

But it neglects to mention that this was all a work of fiction and that after three trials, Arbuckle was eventually found innocent.

By then, though, the damage to his career was permanent.

Merton’s film re-enacts the night of that party to prove that the real scandal was not what Arbuckle did, but how outrageously trumped up the charges against him were.
