MICHAEL JACKSON's father fears the King of Pop's doctor will be acquitted of manslaughter as the medic's preliminary hearing begins in Los Angeles.

Joe Jackson is appalled by suggestions his son took his own life and administered the anaesthetic that killed him in June 2009, but he worries that the claim by Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyers will be enough to plant doubt in the minds of the court officials.

The Jackson family patriarch tells X17.com his son had too much to live for to take his own life: "He had too much responsibility. He's a Jackson, he doesn't think like that."

And Jackson insists there's more to the tragedy than a simple case of a doctor making a mistake: "One month before he died he told (his mother) Katherine they were going to kill him for his publishing catalogue. He said they were going to kill him. Why would he kill himself?"

As for what he thinks will happen to Murray, Jackson tells the website, "They're going to get the doctor off."

The trial is expected to last two weeks, with both sides presenting strong cases for what they are trying to prove happened on the morning of 25 June, 2009.

Court proceedings began shortly after 9am local time on Tuesday (04Jan11). Murray is charged with involuntary manslaughter and the hearing is being held to determine if there is enough evidence to take the matter to trial. The doctor has pleaded not guilty.

Joe Jackson is expected to attend the hearing on Wednesday (05Jan11).

His wife Katherine and their children Tito, Jermaine and LaToya were present as Tuesday's hearing got underway.

Alberto Alvarez, the bodyguard who phoned emergency services after Jackson went into cardiac arrest on 25 June, 2009 is expected to take the stand on Tuesday, as is Jackson's former chief of staff Michael Amir and Faheem Muhammad, chief of security.

The employees are being represented by Carl Douglas, who was a member of O.J. Simpson's defence team and previously served as an attorney for Jackson in 1993.

I like the way Joe says this:  "He had too much responsibility. He's a Jackson, he doesn't think like that"

Present tense....    8-)

The family has been saying for 18 months now that he has been murdered, that this is bugger than Murray and he is just the fall guy. Still no one seems to bother. I expect a lot of dirt will surface during this whole court saga.

I was just watching HeadLineNews and they interviewed Dr. Sanjay Gupta.  Gupta and a legal correspondent for HLN agree that MJ could have possibly injected himself with more propofol.  The legal correspondent says "it's not a bad defense."  Gupta says it's actually possible but not necessarily probable.  However, he says, given that MJ had a high tolerance for these drugs, MJ might not have been too groggy and could have injected himself if the IV was in his arm.

It appears as if the mainstream media is prepping the public to believe this lie.

Interesting, they just had doctor who supposedly is an expert on propofal on Fox News who just said the opposite.  He said it would have been impossible for MJ to inject himself with the drug because the second it hit his vein he would become paralized.  I guess everyone has their own view of this.

The author of this article needs to check their facts:

This was a preliminary hearing NOT a trial ("the trial will last two weeks).  Also, Tito and Jermaine weren't there as far as I know.  I thought it was just Katherine, La Toya and Jackie?

I have talked to several doctors I work with- and NO ONE thinks it is possible to self administer propofol after being already injected with a dose.

But sure- I can see how Gupta is being used to prep "Joe Average" to buy it.

Okay, if Michael was going to be murdered for the catalogue, I have a few questions.

When did Michael purchase the catalogue?
How long had he owned it?

I have read that the catalogue had been used for loans with very high interest rates and since Michael's "death" the interest rates have been significantly lowered.
Wouldn't it have been better if Michael was alive and have larger interest rates against that catalogue?
In this way the loan holders would be raking in the cash due to a higher rate of interest on the loan and there would be a greater chance that Michael wouldn't be able to meet the payments and default on the loans.

What was so special about this period of time, as far as the catalogue goes, if Michael had owned it for years and he was heavily in debt, using the catalogue as collateral?

Hasn't the estate made a lot of money since Michael's death, maybe even more than if Michael was actually considered alive?

Branca has renegotiated the loans against the catalogue and stated that it is not for sale. Sony would get first dibs, if it was to go up for sale but Sony has a new contract with the estate...Sony is helping the estate make more money thus ensuring the estate doesn't lose the catalogue.
Wouldn't Sony have gotten the catalogue if this was a murder plot and wouldn't they be trying to get it now?

I just think that there is more going on here than "murder for a catalogue" but it does keep the family in the media and Michael talked about.

Also, if Michael is more involved with Sony as in "I own half of Sony" then really Michael's family is accusing Michael of murdering himself and asking us to look for another conspiracy against Michael.

If this is a "death hoax" than Michael has sort of murdered himself, committed a sort of suicide but not in the literal sense.

Michael bought the catalog in 1985 for $47.5 million.
