Michael Jackson The Experience Sold Way Better Than Anyone Thought It Would
Greg Tito | 6 Jan 2011 3:49 pm

Apparently, a lot of people wanted to slip on a glove and a Wii remote to dance to Michael Jackson songs.

I liked Michael Jackson The Experience. There was something awesome about picking up a controller and pretending to be the Gloved One as I did my best keeping up with his (occasionally really freaking hard) dance moves. But I honestly didn't think it would appeal to a lot of gamers, especially with more complete dancing experiences available from Just Dance 2 and Kinect's Dance Central. I guess I should eat my hat as Ubisoft announced today that Michael Jackson The Experience sold through two million copies in the US and Europe. Keep in mind, that's only one platform and the game hasn't even been released in Japan yet. Ubisoft is optimistic that the Move and Kinect versions out later in 2011 (April 12th in N.A. and 14th in Europe) will perform even better.

"Michael Jackson The Experience is a worldwide hit and offers fans the game they have been waiting for," said Yves Guillemot, chief executive officer of Ubisoft. "As the leader in the dance game genre, our teams have worked enthusiastically to build an experience that recreates the magic worlds of Michael Jackson's videos and performances. We're looking forward to bringing Michael Jackson The Experience to Kinect and Move so an even bigger audience can enjoy playing the game with their friends and family too."

The Xbox 360 and PS3 version will add "Blood on the Dance Floor," "I Just Can't Stop Loving You" as well as some as yet unannounced tracks. You will also be judged on singing in addition to dancing, which will add a whole new difficulty level to the mix. I am out of breath every time I finish "Thriller" so I can't imagine having to actually get out all of the words at the same time.

And everything I own I give
The rarest love who\'d think I\'d find
Someone like you to call mine

I have it and love it, but I would have bought it whether I had a Wii or not, just to have it...lol. Just like probably all of his Fanbase.

Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars? Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, "I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight," people would say, "Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a single word that comes out of his mouth."

I have the wii and I so wish I could get this game. I've watched some youtube videos of people just giving 'er at this game. I don't think i'd be very good at it though since when it comes to dancing i'm stiffer than the tin man after the rain

I'm so envious of and happy for all you who have and enjoy the game. I'm clueless on electronics like that, and considered just getting the wii so I could learn MJ moves and games at the same time. My problem is that I don't think I could find the time for that plus be on here. :(  I'm really thrilled that it's selling so well! :D

Top Rated Wii Game on Amazon!!
January 19, 2011, 03:13:37 PM
Michael Jackson: The Experience is Top Rated Wii Game on Amazon + Copy with Glove to be Won

Today, Michael Jackson: The Experience has been rated the highest on Amazon’s list of Wii games.  It’s an incredible achievement considering how many Wii games Amazon stock!

To celebrate, we’re giving away a copy of the game to one lucky winner. The game we have includes the limited edition glove, unfortunately this limited edition will only work on Wii systems in The United States. Leave as many comments as you like to enter.

I've decided they need to reverse the game.  They need to have it go like this.
We get to pick a variety of Michael's from different age in his life..as in hair, etc.  We pick the outfit, from concerts, award show.  We take our Michael to interviews, arrange tours, photo shoots, helping others as in charity work (notice we are building toward something thus points in the game).  We have our Michael practice dance and sing in his studio.  Then TOUR.  This is done like these games I've seen on commercials where little kids jump up and roll and an animal on the screen does the same in the game they play.
CRAZY!!!  Like the real game, but instead of us copying Michael, WE make Michael MOVE.  WE have to do it right to make him get it right.

You have a great idea...you should present that to MJ when he returns. I bet he'd love the idea. It would be a great workout...Blessings!

I don't believe that is true. It would have sold well, for the possibility of an MJ tournament guest starring MJ himself LOL

I have Michael the Experience for Wii and I loooovvvvve it .  I could never get past one (1) star lol ! but just the thought of playing it and breaking a sweat it enough enjoyment.  I love thriller and will you be there.  My whole family loves to play it.  My niece who is almost nine months pregnant loves dancing to it.  She just cracks me up when she goes on the floor and starts dancing.  I have videos of her over the christmas holiday doing it and I laugh my head off.  We all play it and I have a large family.  Four of us have a Wii console and everyone of us have Michael the Experience game.  Every Saturday and Sunday we get together at each other's house and after dinner we get a few cocktails and we put Michael on and start dancing.  Its soo much fun.

Hey, I'm with you on the electronics stuff and the lack of time issue too.  But, I bought myself the Xbox 360 Kinetic for Christmas (still in box) waiting for the Experience to come out so I can set that baby up (or have someone else more tech savvy than me set it up), and dance the night away with Michael.  I will get up an hour earlier if I have to, to find time to dance and sing to Billie Jean, Smooth Criminal, Blood on the Dance Floor, etc., etc, etc..  I went into Game Stop, a store I wouldn't even know what to do in, and checked out the Wii version on the day it came out.  I stayed there an hour dancing with Michael and scored pretty high too!
