Dr. Murray's Medical Shingle Hangin' By a Thread

17 minutes ago by TMZ Staff

Conrad Murray's medical career may not have flatlined -- TMZ has learned the medical boards in Texas and Nevada will not automatically suspend his license just because a California judge did.

Sources connected with the Texas Medical Board and the Nevada State Board of Medical Examiners tell TMZ they are weighing their options regarding the suspension of Murray's medical license.

Murray's California medical license was suspended yesterday as a condition of bail in his ongoing Michael Jackson manslaughter case.

But we're told ... because a judge suspended Murray's license and not the California Medical Board -- TX and NV don't feel compelled to follow suit and issue suspensions in their states.

We're told Murray's attorney, Charles Peckham, has been in talks with the NV med board and is making contact with TX as well -- but no word on when a final decision will be made.

Didn't they already set conditions to his bail when he was bailed out.  He was told he could not administer propofol.  Are they able to add more conditions to his bail even though he has been bailed out for quite some time.  The judge should have added this in when he was bailed in the first place.  He has been able to practice medicine all this time and no one seemed to care.  But, now that the judge has heard things, he thinks that maybe he should not practice.  I don't understand.

Dr. Murray: 'I'm Hanging by a Thread'
Posted Apr 1st 2010 2:32PM by TMZ Staff

Dr. Conrad Murray's lawyer filed legal papers today pleading with the judge in his criminal case not to yank his medical license, because he needs it to pay for his defense.

Murray's lawyers are responding to the State Attorney General's motion, asking the judge to suspend his medical license as a condition to bail.

Murray's lawyer, Ed Chernoff, says his client was in financial hot water before Michael Jackson's death and is now, "without fear of overstatement, hanging on by a thread."

Murray believes if the judge suspends his license, Texas and Nevada will follow suit and the doctor won't be able to make the money required to mount a defense. Although we're told Chernoff won't be making money, Murray is still responsible for expert witness fees and other trial-related expenses.
