A yellow ribbon on the old oak tree

About a year ago I was watching one of Michael's tributes on T.V and I noticed something. At one point I saw fans morniing over the loss of Michael on a side walk. Beside the side walk was a tree that had a yellow ribbon tied around it.

This reminded me of the song A yellow ribbon. In the song it says;
"It's been three long years since they've herd of me."

I think the he yellow ribbon is a clue telling us that he will return next year. What do you think?

For the life of me I can't remember the name of  the tribute so if anyone was seen it please tell us what the name is.

NO !!!  I can't take another year or more.  I don't want to believe that was a clue - I missed that tribute anyways.  
I do love music of the 70's and this song was a hit but you have the words incorrect....
"it's been three long years, do you still want me?"
All I can say if that's the case...Michael, get off that BAM bus and come back to us!!!!

The video posted by MJonmind with the ribbon tied around Versace by MJ´s kids looks like it´s the video you had in mind, dom425. Must be a clue. Is this the one? It is quite a challenge to find out which tribute you remember. I did see some video's of tributes, yet no fans tying a yellow ribbon around a tree.

I think we should try again on his birthday if he doesn't return by then. It sounds like a wonderful idea.

After watching the videos it kind of made sense, especially when Jermaine made that point of the giving tree and the only thing I could smile about was that cute doggie.
I think yellow ribbons for memorial of his death is better... it's earlier than August.  Just thinking about TIAI bible text about the date of your death is more important than your birth date...off track, sorry.

IN USA YELLOW RIBBON AROUND TREE IS USUALLY PUT  BY THE FAMILY WHOSE   MEMBER IS SERVING ON ABROAD WARS IN  ARMY  ;( ;((

like sigh and remembrances for those heroes.
