Michael Jackson manslaughter trial nears end

Michael Jackson manslaughter trial nears end

The involuntary manslaughter trial of Michael Jackson's personal doctor reconvenes today and could wrap up this week.

USA TODAY correspondent Martin Kasindorf reports from Los Angeles that physician Conrad Murray's last witness in his defense, anesthesiology expert Paul White, faces cross-examination by the prosecution. White says it was Jackson himself, not Murray, who gave the singer a fatal overdose of an anesthetic to treat insomnia in June 2009.

The coroner has ruled the cause was "acute propofol intoxication," an overdose of a hospital-grade anesthetic aggravated by effects of the sedative lorazepam.

Kasindorf reports that, although Murray did not testify, intimate details of Jackson's last months emerged from Murray's interview with police detectives two days after the death. Jackson's personal assistant, security guards and personal chef, concert-tour executives and other health care providers delivered more details.

Among the revelations: Murray had been putting Jackson to sleep with intravenous drugs nightly at his mansion under a $150,000-a-month service agreement.

Prosecutors could follow White's testimony today with rebuttal witnesses. The case would end with closing arguments and jury deliberations.

Let me understand something, this Doctor thinks Michael gave himself the fatal dose of propofol? Oh really? How did he do that? He was already under propofol, he was drowsy, so he picked up a syringe and gave himself another shot? How? If you are groggy you can't not even comb your hair. Secondly, where are the finger prints? So after he gave himself the fatal dosage, groggy that he was, he had the energy to wipe his fingerprints? Yeah ok.. come back down on earth Doctor and smell the coffee..

No way Michael could have given himself a dosage of propofol, not if he was already unders.. This was said by my friend who is a doctor and a surgeon.. Wow! I think they take people for fools..  /toldya/ here take this  lolol/

Wouldn't that be something if the verdict was read on Saturday...

I still think it could go either way.  smiley_spider  If it mirrors the 2005 trial, then it will be 'not guilty', and fans and public will be angry and still think he's guilty, with media portraying guilty.  And until MJ BAM's then Michael will forever be guilty of being a druggie.

Irrespective of whether the jury finds Murray guilty or not, Michael will be found guilty of being a demanding druggie.

- this upsets me much  :| like Michael is on trial once again. And they want him guilty. That hurts.

Yes, Aidan, it upsets me too, and I'd have put a big sad face too in my post if I wasn't on 'quick reply' which is no longer showing smilies etc. Many outlets are even calling it the Michael Jackson trial, not the Conrad Murray trial. But I believe and trust that MJ knows what he's doing - he has a tough skin, he knows the truth and I think many people will have to eat their words when this truth eventually comes out.
