Conrad Murray ‘treated like Hannibal Lecter’ in prison, lawyer claims

The doctor convicted of killing Michael Jackson is coping with tight security and isolation and remains optimistic that he will win an upcoming appeal, his civil attorney said Tuesday.

Charles Peckham said sheriff's deputies appear to be subjecting Conrad Murray to more security than other inmates at Men's Central Jail and that the physician was left heavily shackled during their jailhouse meeting.

"Treating him like Hannibal Lecter is offensive," Peckham said, referring to the fictional serial killer from popular books and films. A sheriff's officials defended the security measures, saying they were for Murray's safety.

The attorney had to obtain a court order Tuesday to meet with Murray to discuss strategy on a wrongful death lawsuit filed by Jackson's father. Peckham said despite the judge's order, he was denied entry to the jail, but officials relented after speaking with the civil trial court handling the case.

He said their initial 30-minute meeting was cut short when the jail was placed in lockdown, but Peckham said the time was enough to upset him and see that Murray's fortunes had dramatically changed.

"This man who saved lives made a mistake, and they're going to him pay like a mass-murderer," Peckham said. The doctor spoke extensively to documentary filmmakers before his conviction, but few details of his life behind bars have been divulged.

Murray "is a real target because of his notoriety and because of the Michael Jackson connection," sheriff's spokesman Steve Whitmore said. "We're just being extra cautious right now."

He said jail officials will evaluate how to handle Murray's incarceration, but that he may not serve his whole sentence in isolation from other inmates. He noted that without a recent change in state law, Murray would be serving his term in state prison, not a county lockup.

Peckham said Murray, who has been jailed since a jury convicted him of involuntary manslaughter on Nov. 7, is optimistic that an appellate court will grant an appeal on the case.

Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars? Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, "I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight," people would say, "Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a single word that comes out of his mouth."

Yep, hoaxie buzzwords indeed. This article is obviously referring to a movie and a documentary. Hannibal Lecter is referring to the movie "Silence of the lambs", which literally means silence of the innocent.

.. and this article is probably referring to this insulting judgemental speculative article:
Special Treatment for the 'King of Pop'?

Published June 07, 2005

FOXNews

This is a partial transcript of "The Big Story With John Gibson," June 6, 2005, that has been edited for clarity.

JOHN GIBSON, HOST: Apparently, in the Jackson camp, nobody has faced up to the possibility that Michael Jackson (search) might go to prison. If he is convicted here, he would go to prison. Would he get any special treatment? How would life for Michael Jackson be behind bars?

Joining me now is James Esten. He is a correctional consultant who worked for the California Department of Corrections.

JAMES ESTEN, CORRECTIONAL CONSULTANT: John, that's an outstanding question. If convicted, Michael Jackson will go to state prison. The rules and regulations of the California Department of Corrections require that, one, he be housed in an institution appropriate for his needs, and, two, that society be protected from any further misbehavior or felonious behavior by him.

GIBSON: Yes. But what does that mean, appropriate for his condition? I mean, he would contend — and I know the Department of Corrections would not buy it — but he would contend, the only thing appropriate for his condition is Neverland Ranch. He is not going to adjust very well to a nine-by-nine cell and a stainless steel toilet.

ESTEN: A nine-by-six cell, John.

GIBSON: All right, nine-by-six.

ESTEN: And a stainless steel toilet. And he will be housed in a state prison.

My view of the case and his circumstances would place him at the California state prison at Corcoran. There is a protective housing unit there where an individual of Michael Jackson's needs and uniqueness could be safely housed from the other 163,000 inmates within the California Department of Corrections.

GIBSON: Mr. Esten, he has made three trips to the hospital — well, two, this weekend. What are the chances that he will just end up in permanent housing in a prison hospital?

ESTEN: Those chances are good. But the prison at Corcoran where the protective housing unit is has a certified and validated state prison hospital on the grounds. So he can be treated there as part of his housing in that protective housing unit.

GIBSON: James Esten, a consultant who has worked with the California Department of Corrections. Mr. Esten, thanks a lot. We really appreciate it.

Are there still connections to Jack Gordon's underworld happening?  Could the sting aspects be using Murray as bait to bring real evil ones out of the woodwork?  Could Murray, who represents MJ, be playing a phsycological horror game with those involved but unaware? Cat and mouse?  Wasn't MJ in 2005, a lamb and innocent?

Nice pics Applehad!
