For my Daddy
March 10, 2012, 04:39:38 PM
We buried my daddy last Saturday at age 90.  He had a wonderful life.  Thus the reason I know for my depression today.  So in memory of him, I dedicate this video by his favorite cousin and longtime best friend.  Missing them both   Possibly before your time, but in my childhood a constant.

Sending Love & Strength your way in this time of your heartache.  It's very hard to lose a parent at any age I think.  I lost my Mother over 20 years ago but can still remember the feeling of that moment like it was yesterday.  Mothers (and Fathers) are the ones who shaped us and were there to take care of us from our earliest memories.  Losing the cornerstone of my foundation left such a void even though I was grown with children of my own.  I almost felt like I didn't know who I was supposed to "be" anymore.  It didn't take me long to realize though that the part of my Mother that she so carefully and lovingly instilled in me was always going to be there as long as I nurtured it.  That realization happened after her services when several people approached and complimented me on being "so much like your Mom" and how great that was.  I miss her still and often wonder how differently my life might have gone if she was still here...but I accept that all things happen for some reason or purpose and it's not for us to question their timing.  I'm glad that your Father had a long and wonderful life and that you had him with you as long as you did.  I can tell you loved him very much and I bet he loved you right back the same.  The intensity of the pain will ease over time but you will always miss him.  Hugs to you and prayers for healing.

A big Thank You though for the music.  It's really nice to be taken back to the good ol' days when life was so much simpler and sweeter.

I'm so sorry hesouttamylife.  I love my Dad so much and it hurts to imagine how you feel.  You will always keep his memory alive and take comfort from that, and knowing that he had a long and wonderful life.

Oh sweetie....my thoughts and prayers are with you.  I have been down that road and know your pain all too well.  My dad is always with me...I think about him everyday.  Music has always played such an important factor in my life.  May the music of his sweet memories live on in your heart forever.......he will be with you always.
I am sending out a showering of blessings to you and your family.....love you.

PS> I also picked one star in the night sky to gaze upon and think of him....as I did with my mother and grandmother.  It's just my special personal dedication/remembrance thing......it always makes me smile to see his "star"

Blessing Always

I'm also sorry to hear about your daddy. I lost mine way too soon, as well as my mom, and they are both in my thoughts every day. I still miss them even though it's been years and I don't think that will ever change. I am thankful though that I have fond memories to hold on to.

You'll be in my prayers.

Blessings

He is so fortunate to have lived to be 90!  My stepfather is 92.  I'm sorry you're feeling sad....maybe you can make a journal and write all the things you loved about him and some things he used to say.

Thank you for the music- great stuff!

Your Dad lived for 90 years and had a good life- wonderful! Of course you are missing him but things will get better over time.
My own Dad will be 90 this year and my MOM will be 89. They have both had spells in hospital during January and they are now back in their home with daily assistance from the health care services.

My Dad has always loved music, magic and  Charlie Chaplin. He enjoyed making drawings of Charlie when he was younger. And he used to be an amateur magician.

However, we have totally different tastes in music LOL! Each to their own!

Sorry to get long winded.
Anyways take care and think on the bright side!

Music always helps I feel! bearhug

Dear hesouttamylife.....I don´t know you and you don´t know me....but I really feel your loss. He was 90 and he had a good life you say. That is a wonderful thing and we thank God for this blessing....but still....he was your dad and that leaves you with that vast feeling of loss and grief. But remember....he´s still your dad and even though he´s not with you any more here in this life, he will always be by your side. One day, hopefully far away from today, you will be together again. Until then rejoice in your memories. Everyone loved will never be forgotten.

Here´s something for you:
All Is Well

Death is nothing at all,
I have only slipped into the next room
I am I and you are you.
Whatever we were to each other, that we are still.
Call me by my old familiar name,
Speak to me in the easy way which you always used
Put no difference in your tone,
Wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow.
Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together.
Play, smile, think of me, pray for me.
Let my name be ever the household word that it always was,
Let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of shadow on it.
Life means all that it ever meant.
It it the same as it ever was, there is unbroken continuity.
Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight?
I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near,
Just around the corner.
All is well.

By Henry Scott Holland (1847-1918)
Canon of St Paul's Cathedral

Wishing you strength and courage.
With love
