CIRQUE Du Soleil is rewriting HIStory with Michael Jackson: The Immortal World Tour, an arena-sized tribute to the enduring pop icon coming to Australia in September.

Acrobats, contortionists, dancers and musicians interpret more than 35 of Jackson's songs in the spectacular stage show.

Long-time collaborator Travis Payne, who worked on the HIStory, Dangerous and tragically-curtailed This Is It tours, says Jackson always intended to team up with the Montreal-based circus troupe.

"The opportunity just never presented itself," says the choreographer, who sees Cirque and Jackson's shared appreciation of fantasy, escapism and sheer scale as an extremely good fit.

Jackson never did anything by halves. Cirque has a similarly healthy enthusiasm for jaw-dropping production values - which explains why four jumbo jets are required to carry the cast, crew, costumes and props across the ocean. In Europe, the production travelled in 38 trucks.

The Immortal World Tour, which premiered in Montreal in October 2011, even carries its own washing machines and driers to take proper care of more than 250 costumes that are worn during the show - the dancers have as many as eight changes.

Amongst the props that must be squeezed into aircraft cargo holds is a giant, 1.8m white spangled glove and a pair of 2.4m-long penny loafers.

At the core of the show, however, is Jackson's music - Cirque have unprecedented access to Jackson's master tapes in a special partnership with Sony and the Jackson family.

More than 35 songs - including Dangerous, Thriller, Beat It, They Don't Care About Us, Man In the Mirror, Don't Stop Till You Get Enough and Billie Jean - are re-imagined during the course of the hit show, which will travel to Perth, Sydney, Brisbane and Melbourne in a four-week Australian tour. Tickets go on sale through ticketek on Friday, May 31.

The stripped-back vocal track is so pristine, you can hear Jackson snap his fingers and stomp his feet.

"In a way, it's like we actually have Michael with us on every song," says audio programmer Greg Rule.

Woot woot!.......sounds great!

I have been waiting for this show to come to Australia for ages.

I bought tickets to the Sydney show in September. I could have also gone to see it in Melbourne but I am going with my 3 sisters who all live in Sydney and then I have free accommodation.....just have to pay for a plane flight there and back.

Can't wait!   :woohoo2:

that as good as it gets when it comes to picture of the actual concert due to pyrotechnics and things they used

i thought this shirt looked nice, hope it male version lol, didn't look right when i tried it on lol

overall the concert was really exhilarating to watch, it felt rather overwhelming to watch and hear it for first 30-40min but was good after that

best experiences ever, was good to see sugarfoot and travis live!, actual life lol, most of MJ singing, i thought sounded live or spoken word, much different to listening to a MP3 song or over youtube, but some of it was MP3 like lol.

Immortal version of "TDCAU" wasn't as good as This Is it version. MJ vocal and performance was much stronger, and amazing, though i thought it was best thing ever see that actual routine, with those armoured people live! and that background, MJ was missing from it to make it mind bobbling :-(

I went last night. Seriously cried!!! It just felt surreal. And knowing that he is alive just gives you such an intimate experience even though there were 15 thousand people there.

Amazing...

Highlights for me were:

Thriller
TDCAU
Young MJ on silk screen JCMN - yep cried.
Neverland gates
Smooth Criminal
Scream.
Bubbles!!!!
WYBT (Pains :icon_e_wink: )
Damn it, all of it!!!!!

Was brilliant. Seriously MJ if you are reading THANK YOU!!! It was the best I felt since I last went to one of your concerts!!!

Ur beautiful! We want more!! xx

Will ,if you saw the show, clear me up on something ,please  :icon_e_confused: :suspect: .It seems that during the show they use some of MJ's quotes from Ebony interview 1992.Is that truth  :icon_question: ?

http://www.jackson.ch/ebony1.htm

Do you remember some parts where MJ speaks ,besides Will you be there thing  :icon_eek:? Where did they get those from,if the interview was never taped  :icon_eek:? Or maybe was  :WTF:?
