Producer: I’ll release new Michael Jackson songs

 • on: August 12, 2013, 07:43:05 AM

Fred Jerkins III and (inset) Michael Jackson
Michael Jackson collaborator Fred Jerkins III revealed that he plans to issue fresh material from the megastar while visiting Midland music students.
The influential R & B producer Fred Jerkins III, who worked with the troubled pop performer on his final 2001 album Invincible, led a masterclass at Access to Music in Digbeth on Thursday.
The co-writer of hits like You Rock My World, Jerkins made a big impression as he was whisked in to the specialist pop and rock college in Heath Mill Lane to answer questions from youngsters who are hoping to make their way in the music business.
And he said that he has plans to issue some unpublished material by tragic Jackson, who died four years ago aged 50.
“We have a number of unreleased songs and all sorts of video footage  :icon_eek: ,” he said.
“There’s a project in the making right now that will include all those songs.”
Jerkins also sought to dispel the ‘Wacko Jackson’ stereotype saying that Jackson was a charming gentleman. (  Thank you ,we all know that )
“I worked with him for two years exclusively – it’s the biggest highlight of my career,” said Jerkins, who works with his brother Rodney under the name Darkchild.
“He came to our studios in Pleasantville, New Jersey [the city where Jerkins grew up] and we built a really strong relationship and became really good friends.
“I remember him, just for fun, riding on a three-wheel bike in the parking lot that belonged to someone with disabilities.
“He was really relaxed. It’s things like that that you wouldn’t expect from Michael Jackson.
“We were comfortable with him as a family and my son had his fifth birthday at Neverland.”
Darkchild has also masterminded tracks for Beyonce, the Spice Girls, Will Smith and Lionel Richie.
Jerkins also recalled ‘hanging out’ with Whitney Houston, for whom he co-wrote tracks such as It’s Not Right (But It’s Okay).
“She’s been to our church singing,” he said of the vocal legend’s gospel roots, which included a stint at his pastor father Fred’s Evangelical Fellowship Church in Pleasantville.
“It’s very difficult when you see people like Michael and Whitney passing on because we had a close relationship with both of them.”  :animal0017: :suspect:
Fred, who is about to work on tracks for Usher and Rihanna, advised students to spend time honing their skills rather than expecting the kind of instant, but fleeting, chart domination enjoyed by winners of TV talent shows like The X Factor.
“An event like this is to inspire and educate people, and let them know what they can do,” he said.
“A lot of people pursue music and expect success to come real fast, but you have to stay at it. Winners of these talent shows need to sell records and to continue to sell for lots of years, after gaining that sort of platform in the first place.
“I come from an area where there was no music scene – it wasn’t like living in New York or Los Angeles,” said Jerkins, who plays piano, drums, bass and trumpet.
“When we broke into the music business it was just us.
“But so many people have broken in from there following in our footsteps, and told us ‘if it wasn’t for you guys, we wouldn’t have thought of making it’.”
Toby Smith, director of education at the college said: “This is marvellous to have such a big name in the music industry come to this region and support the music industry locally.”

Give me baby one more time lol  :LolLolLolLol:!!!!!!  Well,well,well.....Jerkins brothers strikes again, and it't seems that Controversy it's very fashionable lately  :icon_lol: .

UPDATE: Rodney Jerkins was kind enough to give me the following statement in reaction to his brother Fred’s recent comments regarding the release of unheard Darkchild recordings with Michael Jackson:

“I have no idea what Fred is talking about. I have not spoken to him about this so not sure what material he is speaking of.” – August 12, 2013

Oh yes,give me a break,like he didn't knew  :icon_rolleyes: .

I don't know why,but after all this controversy about Bieber and his "duet" with Mike  :icon_lol: :LolLolLolLol: ,something tells me that the next album is based on DUETs  :icon_cool:  :icon_e_biggrin: .......and they wanted to see how fans will react  :argue: :icon_geek: .

Jerkins, who produced Jackson’s “You Rock My World” and Bieber’s “As Long As You Love Me”, stated that he felt a Jackson / Bieber duet is something he could have arranged had Michael not passed away.

“I think if Michael [Jackson] was alive I would have been able to make a meeting happen and actually get them to do something together,” said the producer.

Could Jerkins have helped arrange this posthumous duet? (The answer is: no – see update further down) If so, it wouldn’t have been the first time Jerkins has teed up a feature from the grave.

In fact, Michael Jackson’s 2001 ‘Invincible’ album includes a song called “Unbreakable” – produced and co-written by Jerkins. “Unbreakable” features a verse by Notorious B.I.G – four years after the legendary rapper’s death!

Furthermore, back in late 2010, around the time that the first posthumous Michael Jackson album was released by Sony Music, there was talk that the next MJ project would be a complete album of newly crafted duets.

Teddy Riley, who produced music for Jackson on a number of occasions during his life (including tracks for 1991′s ‘Dangerous’ album and 2001′s ‘Invincible’) stated that because much of Jackson’s unreleased work was incomplete, duets would be built using what was available.

“He would do is go in and do the first verse, and the chorus, and he would not do a second verse,” said Riley of Jackson’s habits when writing or recording demos. “It’s just to get the idea down. So the next album that’s coming, and I don’t want to say too much, but the next album that’s coming is a duet album with a lot of great artists, because he only did first verses.”

This is the way Jackson worked in order to decipher which tracks he felt good about, and which he didn’t.

“What I do when I write is that I’ll do a raggedy, rough version just to hear the chorus, just to see how much I like the chorus,” explained Jackson. “If it works for me that way when it’s raggedy, then I’ll know it will just work … I do that same process with every song. It’s the melody. It’s the melody that’s most important. If the melody can sell me then I’ll go to the next step.”

One of the main sticking points for Michael Jackson fans is that “Slave To The Rhythm” is a track Jackson completed during his life – recording all the lead and backing vocals himself.

So who knows, who's right and who's wrong lol  :LolLolLolLol: !!!!

To be honest, who cares?  There's only so far one can go with 'controversy', before it loses it's excitement and becomes boring.  Sorry, but that's the way I feel.  I've switched off to all this music stuff.

Why not just tell people I'm an alien from Mars? Tell them I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight. They'll believe anything you say, because you're a reporter. But if I, Michael Jackson, were to say, "I'm an alien from Mars and I eat live chickens and do a voodoo dance at midnight," people would say, "Oh, man, that Michael Jackson is nuts. He's cracked up. You can't believe a single word that comes out of his mouth."

well it was kind of mentioned in passing by some of us early on that at the latter time he seemed to be tying some of his work to other artist. guess there is a reason for that.

Exclusive new details about upcoming work-in-progress Michael Jackson album revealed! »   :penguin:  :)
by DAMIEN SHIELDS posted on OCTOBER 7, 2013

It’s no secret that Epic Records, spearheaded by its CEO, LA Reid, is putting together a new album of unreleased Michael Jackson material. Timbaland spoke about it.

Fred Jerkins spoke about it. It’s happening.

One thing that has not been made clear is exactly when the album is scheduled for release. Despite a host of producers, musicians and DJs speaking publicly about their contributions, Epic Records and The Michael Jackson Estate have remained quiet about the whole thing, leaving Jackson enthusiasts to wonder about the finer details – until now!

Dr. Freeze, the man responsible for writing and producing “Break Of Dawn”, a song from Jackson’s ‘Invincible’ album, was kind enough to give me some fascinating insight into the direction of the upcoming work-in-progress project.

“It seems to be coming out in the Spring of 2014,” Freeze told me exclusively.

Many fans had speculated that the new album, like 2010′s controversial ‘Michael’ album, would be rushed out to capitalise on holiday season sales during the 2013 Christmas period.

However, timing doesn’t appear to be the focus with this project. Instead, the focus is on delivering a quality product that all sectors of the Michael Jackson fan community can enjoy and appreciate in one way or another.

The label recognises that delivering a product which will satisfy the appetite and taste buds of Jackson’s entire fan base is likely an impossible task. So, in an effort to at least partially please most of the fans, they’re taking a much different approach; an approach most fans would have liked to have seen taken back in 2010 with the ‘Michael’ album.

The new album, at this stage, will go with a “then and now” / “past and present” type theme, featuring both new remixes and original versions of unreleased Michael Jackson recordings.

“I’m not on the album; just my songs,” explained Freeze, whose unreleased tracks “A Place With No Name” and “Blue Gangsta”, originally recorded by the King of Pop in 1998, will be freshly remixed by new producers for the album.

“Both old and new versions of both songs are on the album to satisfy both sides of the fans,” Freeze revealed.

“Which producers are remixing your songs for the album?” I asked.

“Not sure yet. It’s still up in the air right now,” he responded.

Super-producer Timbaland, most famous for his work with Missy Elliot and Justin Timberlake, believes he’ll wrap up his part of production by the end of the year; and he’s already predicted (prematurely, perhaps) that the lead single will be a song he remixed, called “Chicago”.

“I can tell you the first single is gonna be the song ‘Chicago’ … I think it should be, because ‘Chicago’ sounds like today,” said the producer.

“So last night I heard some of the new tracks Timbaland is doing for the King of Pop… WOW!” tweeted DJ Freestyle Steve, Timbaland’s official DJ, after a private listening session.

“To all the Timbaland & Michael Jackson fans; just know Tim did an amazing job with Mike’s vocals. The world will love it,” he added.

With songs like “Slave To The Rhythm” and “Do You Know Where Your Children Are” being remixed and considered to feature alongside the previously mentioned Freeze tracks “A Place With No Name” and “Blue Gangsta” fans should be in for a treat.

The recently leaked “I Am A Loser“, written by Brad Buxer and Jackson in 2003 (or “I Was The Loser” as its 2008 version is called), could come into consideration, as could tracks such as “Escape”, “She Was Lovin’ Me” and “Can’t Get Your Weight Off Of Me” from the 1999-2001 ‘Invincible’ sessions.

But like Dr. Freeze said; “It’s still up in the air right now.”

Songs you can count on not being included; the infamous ‘Cascio tracks’ – three of which have already been released and nine of which remain unreleased.

The Estate have communicated to fans that no more Cascio tracks will be included on any future Michael Jackson releases following the uproar they caused in 2010 when questions over the authenticity and origins of their dubious vocals were raised by Jackson’s family and fans around the world.

Although “Slave To The Rhythm” is one of the tracks being considered for release, it’s unlikely to appear in the form of a duet with Justin Bieber. An incomplete mix of the posthumous duet, produced by Max Methods as requested by Tricky Stewart (who is currently the president of A&R at Epic Records – under LA Reid) was leaked online in August to the displeasure of many MJ fans.

To clear things up The Michael Jackson Estate, via their mouthpiece ‘The MJ Online Team’, issued the following statement:

“For those who have been asking about the recently posted recording of ‘Slave 2 The Rhythm’ by Michael and Justin Bieber, this recording was not authorized and has been taken down,” later adding, “It is unauthorized and therefore there is no intention to release it.”

There are still major doubts as to whether Jackson’s fans will ever hear the unreleased music that originates from some of his later collaborative ventures, including a three-year period in which he worked sporadically with Black Eyed Peas frontman will.i.am.

Jackson is said to have recorded just a few songs during his time in the studio with will.i.am, including titles “I’m Dreamin”, “The Future” and “I Will Miss You” as previously cited by the producer.

However, will.i.am has been very vocal about putting out and/or finishing Jackson’s incomplete work. He deems it disrespectful, calling The Estate “parasites” and accusing them of not honoring the King of Pop back when the first posthumous album was being put together.

As a fan, I would personally love Epic Records to release the original, untouched demo of “Hollywood Tonight” – perhaps as a bonus track or iTunes exclusive on the upcoming album. Although a remix of the track features on the 2010 ‘Michael’ album, I feel that the demo version - written and produced by Jackson and Brad Buxer - is so good that fans need to hear it.

Based on the above-mentioned titles alone there is enough material available for Epic Records to release an extremely strong album featuring several hit singles.

Just for fun, I’ve listed my fantasy track list below. The album would be two discs, each with the same songs. Disc one would have the new versions and disc two would consist of the original versions. “Hollywood Tonight” (Original) is a ‘Bonus track’ and would feature on disc two. The “Then, Now” portion of the title is a literal interpretation of the album’s content. “Forever” represents how Jackson wanted to be remembered. As one of music’s few immortals.

Michael Jackson: Then, Now, Forever

1. Escape (New version / Original)
2. She Was Lovin’ Me (New version / Original)
3. Do You Know Where Your Children Are (New version / Original)
4. Slave To The Rhythm (New version / Original)
5. A Place With No Name (New version / Original)
6. Blue Gangsta (New version / Original)
7. I Was The Loser (New version / Original)
8. Can’t Get Your Weight Off Of Me (New version / Original)
9. Chicago (New version / Original)

BONUS TRACK: Hollywood Tonight (Original)

“I always want to do music that inspires or influences another generation. You want what you create to live, be it sculpture or painting or music. Like Michelangelo, he said, ‘I know the creator will go, but his work survives. That is why to escape death, I attempt to bind my soul to my work.’ And that’s how I feel. I give my all to my work. I want it to just live.” – Michael Jackson

People laugh when I explain. And though they may laugh, that doesn't change the fact that it's still the truth.

' “I’m Dreamin”, “The Future” and “I Will Miss You”.' Hmm...sounds like an outline of the hoax.

Aussie, the only thing that could explain it still being MJ, is that sometimes very grainy pics can alter the shapes of things completely, depending on where the pixels separate to. :icon_e_smile:

To me it's just the very very poor quality, just as MJonmind said. It depends a lot upon the quality of each frame. Sometimes because of poor quality, some frames completely morph the person in the video into a completely different thing {which some conspiracy theorists call "shape-shifting". You can check those videos on YouTube. They mostly turn out to be these very poor quality videos}

So a screen-cap largely is affected by the particular frame selected.

So someone might have just taken the crappiest screen-cap. Anyways, this is the age of Photoshop, anything can be manipulated. Maybe someone is just messing up with us cause we got nothing to do.
haha.
Sorry.
