Wicked Witch MJ painting question?
January 10, 2010, 08:32:39 AM
One of the paintings that MJ bought from Nelson De La Nuez, besides the pictures, for his kids was Wicked Witch.

Both TMZ and De La Nuez stated re: Michael and Wicked Witch painting:
“ he was transfixed by the ‘Wicked Witch,’ ” De La Nuez said. “I introduced myself and he said, ‘I want that piece.
” [he] was "obsessed" with the Wicked Witch painting" (TMZ)

I was wondering for some time what this painting is all about, apart of course the subject of it, until I saw this photo of Alister Crowley with, to me at least, the same pose and idea for the picture as the Wicked Witch.

There have been many references to Crowley in MJ's music/art/life, so presumably this should not be a surprise to see his interest in this one. However, with this particular one, in 2009, during the times that we are in, maybe there is something else that we should see here? I do not know, got stuck with it completely and need some help.

Or maybe this is just another coincidence that these two look similar… but i think these days coincidence has a different meaning already…

Just out of curiousity: what would make you say that there have been many references to satanist Alister Crowley in MJ's art?

like for example the album cover of Dangerous when you see Alister face - i did not say references to satanist but just the name of the person, i understand what AC was doing, but it was more to mention him as a character rather then his activities

I see :)

While personaly I think the idea that MJ's lyrics are stuffed with satanist messages (as some theories propose) is very crazy BS, i think he could well have been interested in those things for the sake of knowledge and education (some things of this nature are truly fascinating to study). Creative minds find food for creativity in almost everything, very often - the strangest things possible, no need to look deep for 'hidden motives' IMO :)

i also do not get all of these hidden subconscious messages in songs that you can hear only while the song is reversed cause it would imply that we as human beings can subconsiosly understand backwards what we hear in real time ;)

Those songs are beautiful and lightfull, seriously why to hear them backwards at all?  :D The message is just there, in plain English!

Interesting choice of words. It's no secret that Michael was absolutely fascinated by magic. A lot of people just assume he's into illusion, but I would bet money that he went beyond illusion and learned about real magic. Whether or not the Crowley image is related, I really cannot say. It is a pose often taken by villains.

I also don't see where Crowley shows up many times in Michael's life... the album cover portrait is just a theory (isn't it?). But I have no doubt he was more than aware of Crowley given his association with magic.
