Dave Dave in "The Bold and the Beautyful"

  • on: January 11, 2010, 01:34:36 PM
There has been an American Serial on TV with Dave Dave in 1997.
Referring to:  http://archive.southcoasttoday.com/dail ... 3li779.htm

And there has been a video of this scene on youtube named "taylor at the hospital after the house fire".
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lCp_5t3661U

I´ve watched it several times looking for any evidence of MJ beeing Dave Dave. Now (since weekend) this video has been removed.
It has also been removed from this site: http://video.filestube.com/video,ea6b70 ... f03e9.html  (which may have been only a link to youtube?)

So my question is:
Is there anyone on this forum who has a copy of this video and who can provide it on youtube again, maybe with another title?

This would be VERRRY helpful!
Thank you! :)

i had screenshots of the character but deleted them.. i tried to recover the photos
but to no avail.. i do have one  but it is not as clear as the ones i had.

@je. This would be nice!

This is the article from my first post. The bold scentences I find quite odd.

----
Tothenburg is a survivor, not a victim
Photo By Jennifer Bowles Associated Press television writer
If you've ever wondered if the eyes are the windows to the soul, you need only take one look at David Rothenberg.
Behind his brown oval glasses, his hazel eyes dance when he laughs at his own jokes and twinkle when he talks about his dreams of becoming a movie director.

In 1983, Mr. Rothenberg, then 6, was at the center of a custody battle when his father took him to a motel across the street from Disneyland, splashed kerosene over his body and set him ablaze. Only his eyes were spared from the flames.
Authorities said Charles Rothenberg tried to kill the boy because he feared being permanently separated from him by his ex-wife.
The "incident," as David Rothenberg now refers to it, permanently disfigured his now lanky body. The fire and a series of reconstructive surgeries left him bald, without fingers above his knuckles and with crinkled scar tissue for skin.
To cover some of his facial scarring, he blots on foundation makeup and lines his contorted mouth with lipstick. On this day, he's wearing a gray bowler hat to cover his head.
It would be understandable if David Rothenberg showed signs of self-pity. But any such signs are hard to find. The way he sees it, he's a survivor, not a victim.
"Everybody always stresses on the incident," he says. "As far as I'm concerned, it never happened because I'm fine now. I function as a normal human being. I do all the things that everybody else does."
His ordeal helped him, though, when he entered the world of glamour and high fashion on the soap opera "The Bold and The Beautiful."
Monday and Tuesday, he appears on the CBS soap as Justin, a volunteer who gives a motivational speech to Taylor Hayes (Hunter Tylo), a psychiatrist badly burned in a house fire.
The acting gig came about after he met actress Lauralee Bell on a local morning news show. Ms. Bell, who appears on "The Young and the Restless," was impressed by his positive energy and suggested to her brother Bradley Bell, executive producer of "The Bold and the Beautiful," that he fit perfectly with that soap's storyline.
"It was fun, really fun," Mr. Rothenberg says of the role. "I think acting is a good way for me to learn how to direct people better."
But in this case, life does not imitate art.
"I've only visited someone in the hospital once, and I'm not going to do it again because it's depressing," he says, sitting in the living room of his manager's San Fernando Valley home. "It's just so depressing."
Now 20, Mr. Rothenberg refers to himself only as Dave. He lives on his own in a Studio City apartment, has "several" girlfriends and is doing his best to put the past behind him.
One step in that process was confronting his father in a jailhouse visit last summer for the first time since the fire. Dave told him he couldn't forgive him.
The visit, which also will be his last, "was a major stepping stone for me. I think that helped me in getting on with my career and my life," he says. "Obviously, I've been getting on with things for a long time, but that was the beginning of the end."
Soon after, he legally changed his name to just Dave, he says, whipping out his brown leather wallet to proudly display his California driver's license.
"I changed my name twice already," he explains, referring to his earlier stint as David Jordan Robinson. "I was going through an identity crisis and then I realized that I'm just Dave," he says with a laugh, adding "nobody else."
In his spare time, Dave paints abstract art, writes screenplays and directs music videos. He directed one for country singer Kellie Lidell and is scheduled to do another for rocker Lita Ford this spring.
He also has submitted an application to study film at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena this fall.
"I'm all about expression and that's why I chose directing, acting, painting, because all that stuff is such a great way to express myself," he says.
"I've experienced a lot in life. I have a lot of things to show people and a lot of stories to tell."

Dear je, I appreciate your post soooo much!! And thanks for sharing the link to youtube (ZDF - Are you German?).

The pictures you made for comparison remind me of my own work back in november. I was always clicking between In the Closet, Beat it (MJ rising  up from bed) and several pictures I had. But I was discouraged by people of the old forum telling me that this is never ever MJ in disguise.

I also looked at the shape of his arms, of his shoulders, his chest and the tension of his body. It´s clear for me that this Dave can´t be the one from myspace. It simply doesn´t fit!

So what was your conclusion? Did you ever work on this toppic again?

no i am not German...american
i don't post a lot but i read as many threads as i can when
time permits. As for DD on B/B and myspace i believe that
it is 2 different people. DD/Leeza and DD/Bold n Beautiful
look like the same person (MJ)..The eyes stand out.. DD/myspace
are hazel (bright eyes).
when i watched DD/LKL that's when i believed in hoax 100%..
now the question is why...

Re: Dave Dave in "The Bold and the Beautyful"

It took me quite a long time to think about the reason.  ;)

Of course the hospital scene was an occassion to spread Daves/Michaels message about how the world changes when you start with yourself (as an advice for Taylor).

But maybe the tv series was not the main project.
The main project might have been Dave Daves appearance at Leeza's show, because there he could speak about his friend Michael who "almost went through the same things he went through". And Michael in disguise as Dave Dave needed a reason for showing up on Leeza's. For preparing the hoax, Michael would have made sure the media are familiar with his new appearance and voice.

If the real David Rothenburg would have done "The bold and the beautyful" and Michael as DaveDave would have done the Leezas interview, people would have recognized it. Both of them are too different. Think about the situation today: Even if DaveDave's myspace vid is distorted, we recognize immediately that they are not the same person. This would have happened in the 90's, too, even without youtube and myspace.

To me this makes sense, maybe to others too?

See their clothes, the pictures are shot around the same time. The left one is from the hospital series (screenshot), the right one is from a photo shoot promoting the series, both from 1997.

yep. I do. I think David Rothenburg and Michael collaborated even at that time, Michael doing the series and Leeza's interview, Dave doing the closeup photo shoots. So both, the real picture and the diguise, could merge.

friendlikeme81, Thanks for the pictures. It would be decisive if we could see Dave Dave's hands. The pictures seem to conveniently cut off just at the crucial point.

friendlikeme81, Obsessed? Couldn't really tell.  ;) Is your most recent picture a real MJ photo or a Photoshop job? The DD stills showing DD's arms/hands, previously I was more apt to think the soap opera DD was MJ in disguise but now I just don't know. Help! The DD on the chair at the Leeza show surely has to be the real DD. This is so hard to know for sure. Perhaps it is a combination, as you said earlier, of those boys working together?

This picture of MJ is not photoshopped as you can see.

[attachment=0:t32bupjt]jacksonfive.jpg[/attachment:t32bupjt]It shows that DD and MJ have equal proportions of the upper part of the body and also down to the waist. I think DD leaning towards the wall could probably be MJ in disguise, pulling back his shoulders and turning his arms.

As for the DD appearing in the soap opera the pictures of his left hand leave the impression as if it could be a healthy hand just really cleverly folded into a position where it appears to be damaged. I don't know, it is really difficult to decide.

friendlikeme81, Thank you for photo info. I'm with you on this, I think it could be MJ as DD (with the hat)  but I'm not absolutely convinced. One day we may know for sure.  :) I do think the DD in the chair on the Leeza show is the real DD. His upper body seems quite long. I wonder why we can't find the full Leeza interview anywhere. The clip we see must be longer?

You are right, DDs upper body seems quite long and his legs are very skinny, but I wonder why he is not taller than Leeza. He should be because I guess she is of an average hight and real DD is really tall as you can see in the myspace picture of him standing in the coffin.
About the interview: It is the same as with the interview of DD at LKL: We only see snippets, no complete footage. It seems as if somebody edited the material so we are only allowed to see some parts that fit into the plot. I also wonder were this recent picture of DD sitting in the chair comes from. Why didn't we find it earlier?

friendlikeme81, I Googled Leeza's height and it says 5' 8" or 173 cm. So not too much of a disparity between MJ's height and Leeza's (assuming Google is correct). So maybe it's MJ in the chair after all? The odd thing is, my husband thinks the DD on the sofa looks younger than the DD on the chair. So strange! I did ask poster "chappie" where this chair DD photo was found but I haven't had an update. In some ways I'm glad we can't find anymore of the interview because it makes it all the more suspicious and that adds fuel to the hoax.

Thank you for looking up Leeza's height. I think even if DD is sitting very much back on his chair, he should be taller than her.
I don't understand why there is a chair picture at all. In the interview DD is sitting on an armchair. Why was this photo taken on another chair? This implicates that Leeza was talking to him twice or that she was posing for him especially for the photo. Does it make sense? And why does this photo emerge at a time when all the other media are reporting about Michael being Dave Dave? Fuel for more doubt?
About DD being younger at the interview: He has more makeup on, the skin in smoother, this may change his apparent age. The question is: Are chair DD and armchair DD the same person?

friendlikeme81, If chair DD is over six feet tall he should appear taller that Leeza but we can see they look much the same in height even though Leeza is slightly closer to the camera. If a male and female are of equal height when standing, when seated the male will appear taller because males have a larger body/trunk ratio to height than females i.e. females have longer legs as a proportion of their total height than males. It is true because my inside leg is 31" and husband's is 33" but I'm only 5' 7" and he is 6' 1". I don't know why the interview clip was conducted on a sofa but the new picture has DD on a chair. Unless it's the old double idea again? Chair or sofa or sofa or chair. Could it be that chair DD was made up to look more like the sofa DD. So we have a morphing into a third look? Because to me, chair DD doesn't look particularly like his supposed later self (the photo with the skull head covering) even taking into account the years which have elapsed. One thing which could explain why sofa DD looks to have a smoother complexion (than chair DD)  is the possible application of makeup for the interview proper. The chair DD could be pre makeup and pre interview (a run through) before airing? Tonight I think we have two DD's but tomorrow I'll probably have a different answer.  :? MJ, you are just too good! Where this most recent photo has been, who can say? Not I.  :)

Thank you mjjveritas for your thoughts about the height of DD. I think we should take this as a serious hint for the existence of more than one DD ;) . For me it is also hard to find out which look the recent DD really has, because the photos of him are so different.

friendlikeme81, Thanks for your fine work! I still can't say conclusively that the picture showing DD's clenched hand is fake DD. Of course, Applehead (MJ) nickname and Magritte's odd picture do bare some resemblance, well quite a lot really. As a reward I've put up aptly named video "Eaten Alive" by Diana Ross with MJ. Hope you can view. Credit and thanks to video poster "ClassicDianaRoss". [youtube:31w226v7]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQy86k4fBu0[/youtube:31w226v7]

Delphi, I like it too. And the eighties video doesn't disappoint by including the obligatory big cat.  :)

Thank you mjjveritas for your award. I enjoyed it, but why is the song from Diana Ross and MJ? Where is MJ? (The eightees weren't really my time , I was too young and "behind the wall").

friendlikeme81, You're welcome! I don't know where MJ was but he must have been in the recording studio at some point. It's not actually a song I remember from the eighties. Although I am old enough to remember that decade in great detail. I discovered the pleasure of it via the hoax forums fairly recently. My life is now complete.   I don't ask for much.

He's not in the video. He helped write the song and, as you can probably hear, is one of the backup singers in the chorus. ;)  That's the MAIN reason I like this song as much as I do.

Delphi&mjjveritas, thank you, I think I finally heard him sing in the chorus. And I really like Diana Ross. I remember her last scene in the WiZZ. What a performance!
