The color Yellow - Mandela
February 13, 2010, 07:53:57 PM
Today I was watching a special about Nelson Mandela's life and but really caught my attention is the presence of the color yellow and yellow ribbons during one of his speeches.

Quote
Culture of Yellow:
For years yellow ribbons were worn as a sign of hope as women waited from their men to come marching home from war. Today, they are still used to welcome home loved ones. Its use for hazard signs creates an association between yellow and danger, although not quite as dangerous as red.
If someone is yellow it means they are a coward so yellow can have a negative meaning in some cultures.

Yellow is for mourning in Egypt and actors of the Middle Ages wore yellow to signify the dead. Yet yellow has also represented courage (Japan), merchants (India), and peace.

I know the color yellow was discussed before but it wasnt connected to Nelson Mandela yet.
Michael really admires Mandela so I thought it would be significant to post a thread about it.

Well..on thursday 11th Nelson Mandela was commemorating the 20th anniversary of Nelson Mandela's release from prison after 27 years (FREEDOM), so maybe the yellow color is related with that news.

I think the yellow we see everywhere regarding to Michael also signifies a return. The yellow during that Mandela speech (I can't remember wich one) signiefied his return and Michael really admires Mandela so I see a little connection  ;)
