Why couldn't MJ smell?

I am sure the autopsy are filled with alot of rumours, and some facts.. So we fans can realize it's something going on. Michael loved chicken, or something.. So why would he love eating chickens if they didn't taste anything for him?

if you cant smell then the taste of things will be a lot weaker. about 80% weaker... not completely gone though.

I'd agree on that. my uncle lost his sense of smell around 1986 I think, after a single nose surgery (for polyps removal, they were causing huge breathing problems). from that day on he couldn't smell a thing, yet he eats like a blizzard all these years, obviously the sense of taste didn't get lost. and I doubt he forgot the smells he liked.

You need smelling-sense if you want to taste something. If your nose are filled with god knows what, you hardly taste anything.

Please, which page on autopsy report do you see this? I dont find it.

Interesting.. the autopsy did say that he had "nasal structures"...  thus confirming the rumour he had a false nose.  All the cartilage was gone from the multiple surgeries.  And that would mean his smell was gone too.

Poor baby...  bastard plastic surgeons...  who the hell did that to a man>??  Makes me so angry.

This is interesting...   can explain why MJ said he wasnt much of an eater...  without taste you would just be eating to live and not enjoyment.

About the cologne thing and the TII dancers saying they could smell MJ before he entered the room..  could it be that because MJ couldnt smell that he covered himself with perfume and didnt realise just how strong the smell was?

Michael use two wonderful perfumes: Bal A Verasailles and Black Orchid.They're absolutely wonderful.
One of his dancers said that he knew if Michael is close of him, because he felt his perfume.
The next day, MJ changed his perfume.
I don't think that he use any perfume.His tastes are fine I am sure that he have a good smell.

didnt he spray ko at some point i read  during rehearsals trying to think of things Michael smelt girls hair he liked doing that.

Ive just brought Bal A Versailles from the internet.. so i can judge for myself.  Ive heard that was his favourite above Black Orchid...  i had to buy the EDT spray rather than the perfume as its expensive.

I bough a small black orchid  it was lovely very sad i know i wore it to see tii  people have said to me how lovely it is  it is very spicy . the other one Bal a Verrasailles i have been told is not so good but i will be getting some it is sort of comforting isnt it

Yes, DancingtheDream, I was thinking exactly the same.

Poor MJ ... his first nose job is almost 30 years ago - can you imagine what life would be like without smelling or tasting hardly anything?  I can - at the moment I have to deal with a severe cold / flu ... and I can`t wait to get my senses back !

It makes me almost cry to think of all the health issues he had to deal with:

- severe acne in adolescence (and teasing of his family)
- nose jobs (to avoid further teasing - loosing important senses)
- dicoid lupus (butterfly rashes and deep scars afterwards - which he obviously let be removed via plastic surgeries several times, other than the singer Seal who - quite visibly - seems to live with it)
- permanent risk that dicoid lupus develops into - life-threatening - systemic lupus
- vitiligo (white and dark brown blotches all over his face and body - an explanation why he was so shy and reclusive?)
- his weak lung condition (his first breakdown because of pneumonia - in late 70s or early 80s - he describes in "Moonwalker")
- his severe scalp burns because of the Pepsi-accident (and lots of painful surgeries to follow)
- hair loss because of lupus (including lashes and brows)  AND the scalp burnings
- anorexia (well documented)
- insomnia (fear of nightmares because of child-trauma when his father threatened the boys at night with horrible masks, telling them they could be kidnapped out of their bedrooms)

And - on top - all the distress because of constantly working, creating, touring - being alomost alone responsible for the whole huge family`s income ever since he was 5.... ?

And the only fun which was left for this charismatic boy-man were some playful days with his buddies at Neverland - which society accused him for in the most terrible and disgusting way?

What a life ...    :shock:

Any wonder he became dependent on pain medication?  

Thinking of all this makes me cry - really ....

I've often wondered why he suffered so much adversity in  his life.  It is more than sad.  I can't even come up with a word that would justly describe the unfairness for all he suffered.  He was a saint to be able to deal with all of this and still unconditionally love EVERY living thing.  He was plagued.  But for all that is holy and just, I cannot understand WHY :cry:

all this a gentle soul who cried when he saw the flies goinginto the starving childrens eyes.  It all makes me sick and i hope so much this is a massive kick up the arse to all those people that believed in the rubbish about him. and if he wants to come back he comes back to respect
