Prince (the artist formerly known as)
February 26, 2010, 04:20:52 PM
Hope this is not a double post. I don't know when this interview was done with Prince or in what context it is meant. If it was done after MJ's death and with reference to his death, then I find his comments a little perplexing! Without jumping to any conclusions, why is he so cryptic if he is indeed referring to MJ's passing? It's a pity we couldn't hear the question preceding it.

I think this was done prior to MJ 'passing', possibly 2003-2006, at a guess. I think Prince knew that Michael had something big planned. I believe he also said 'Michael's starting something', when he did the 02 announcement, can't remember where I read this though.

It was before he died and he was talking about MJ's O2 concerts.  You see, he knew about them before any of us or anyone else knew about them because MJ approached Prince to open for him.  Prince said no.

How can Michael ask Prince to open for him ?  Prince is big too, plus those two have been in competition for years.  WOW!

it was way back in 2001 or 2000 NOT at all about the concerts in O2... the question was a joke about who would win a boxing fight; Prince or MJ, and Prince answered; MJ is not a fighter he is a lover, and then made the statement in the video...

not true about the opening act too....

MJ and Prince were suppose to collaborate back in the day and do BAD together but it never happened.  I guess Prince didn't like the opening line "Your butt is mine" he wasn't feeling it.  I heard he said I wasn't going to sing that to MJ and he definitely wasn't going to sing that to me.  I wonder how that song would have came out if they did do it because it was a hit with just MJ.  I saw this clip on Youtube where James Brown was in concert and Prince and MJ was there like in the 80's.  James Brown has MJ come on stage and he sings alittle then he mentions to James Brown that Prince is there.  So Prince comes out and he is so high it's not even funny.  I think he even knocked over one of the props on stage.  I thought that was a cool gesture of MJ to make sure that Prince got acknowledged even though he was tore up. I heard they even played some game against each other like a friendly competition.  That would have been cool to see them together though.

Prince and MJ was actually very good friends, even more in recent years... MJ talked a lot with Prince about the problems he had with sony.. remember went thru a big conflict with warner in the 90... thats why he changed his name to a symbol.. because warner owned the rights to the name prince...

who knows - maybe this hoax is MJ way of dealing with the whole sony/aeg owner rights thing...

Yep, this was in 2000 or 2001 if I remember correctly. I do love the way Prince says that though and wouldn't it just be so amazing if Prince actually knew something. Two amazingly magical geniuses, love'em! Wish I could have been born earlier and in another place just to have experienced those magical times...*sigh*

I guess he wanted his help...  about the post where someone said prince was giving MJ advice about his label, I heard that MJ was also seeking out his advice about his come back and Princes answer was to do some shows in Las Vegas completely unplugged.  He said, no dancing, no fancy stuff, just you and your voice.  Maybe Prince gave him that advice for a reason (Health) Seeing how it is rumored that MJ was afraid to disappoint his fans and wasn't sure about how people were even going to receive the announcement, I can see why he didn't go with Princes Idea, although I would have LOVED to have seen it!

Me too.  As much as I love to see Michael dance, his voice was amazing all by itself. I could sit and listen to him all day. I'm sure you could be right about Prince's motive behind the suggestion.
